simple and basic but does wonders for math skills
This items is pretty well made and wooden- good on hands, and light. I got a lot of mileage on it. Big enough for small hands and small enough for older kids too. I also got a fab price for it. I know there are more expensive ones, but it fit my budget, wants, and is simple and good to use.

It's all right!
Came with a few stains on the metal rods that came off with water and elbow grease. They slide easily and quietly, and smoothly. Has a good feel to it. nice weight, but not too heavy or flimsy. I intend to gift this to children age 4 and 5 and wanted to make sure it didn't come apart like some of the abacus style toys I've gotten in the past. I think this will last. I will post about it if it doesn't...

A very good tool
This is a good tool. It’s great to help kids look at numbers as groups rather than counting by ones, which is less efficient. Some kids learn better with something they can touch. I really like it. It’s made well. It’s a good size. Not too big or small.

Great for counting laps in pool
I use this for counting laps when I swim and it’s great for that. I set it up at the edge and move a bead over every time I return, and use the upper beads once I use up the lower, then start with the lower again. It’s much better than fumbling with some little digital counter that I wouldn’t be able to see through wet goggles, and I lose no momentum.

Decent quality, but slides on a table, and is a bit un-balanced (not level).
I bought this for an elderly person at a facility to play with, but I noticed that it slid around (wouldn't stay put) on their table while playing. Also, this did not seem as it was constructed perfectly level. I put some glue ("Shoe Goo") on the bottom to add a bit of 'grab' for the table, and used a level to add a tad more to the side that was 'off'. Now its fine and the person enjoys their toy. :-)

Good for first graders
Needed a smaller abacus for my first grader. Love that they are colored in groups of 5, makes counting easier for her (ex: she knows a set of whites plus 1 red is 6). It's sturdy, the beads slide easily and we haven't had any of them break off or anything. They are used nearly every day during remote learning.

I'm not the target market for this
I use my abacus as a lap counter at my pool. I used another product previously but the beads were a tighter fit on the rod. After a while the chlorine caused corrosion and it became too hard to slide the beads and had to be replaced. The beads on this abacus are a looser fit and, even with corrosion, they can slide easily.
