Good EDC blade with some minor caveats
I just received this knife a couple of days ago, so this review is based on my first impressions.PRO:- Fit and finish are excellent. No play whatsoever in open or closed position.- It's pretty sharp out of the box.- The assisted opening feature works well. It's easy to open with one hand.- It can be closed with one hand (though you do have to be a bit careful to avoid cutting yourself).- The handle fits my hand well. I have fairly small hands for a guy, so it might not be so great if you have big hands.- Between the textured handle, jimping on the back of the blade, and the shape of the handle itself, you should have no trouble maintaining a good grip. The texturing isn't too aggressive, so I doubt it would become uncomfortable even with prolonged use.- I only checked the law in Seattle, but it's probably legal to carry just about anywhere knives aren't banned completely.- The clip is curved in a way that makes it easy to slide onto a pocket, belt, etc., and it can be moved to either end of the handle.- The blade is 3mm thick for most of its length, more like a typical chef's knife than a typical pocket knife, so it should be nice and strong. It tapers down near the tip so it can fit in small places. Just eyeballing it, I'd say it's around 0.5mm thick at the tip.MIXED- This is not a friendly-looking knife. If you want to ward off a potential attacker, this is probably about as good as it gets for a blade this size. If you're just using it as a tool, you might attract some unwanted attention, especially if you use the assisted opening feature.- The clip is very tight. That's a plus for me, but some people might find it a little too tight.CONS- The clip comes attached near the hinge, so if you carry it clipped to your pocket, you'll have to turn it around before you can use it.- The screws that attach the clip are tiny. The IT department where I work had a 1.3mm hex bit that did the job, I don't think most sets of hex bits/wrenches have anything smaller than 1.5mm.- It's made in China. Personally I don't care, but a lot of knife aficionados don't like Chinese-made knives, so it might be a concern if you're buying one as a gift.- Because of the spring action, you need to use some care if you open it by putting on the blade. It's not a problem if you're expecting it, but you might cut yourself if you're caught off guard.

One of the best knives I have owned, and pretty much amazing at this price point.
As someone who EDC's a pocket-knife I have learned I should not ever have particularly expensive pocket knives. Through using them a pry-tool, screwdriver, multi-tool (don't really have the pocket space to have a multi-tool), and just basic day-to-day wear I am very rough on my knives. I also have lost a few over time (or had friends accidentally throw them away...).After much research I settled on giving this knife a spin almost a year ago. Initial build quality, action, and sharpness were very good. For me it felt secure in my hand and the texture was ok in wet environments, does not snag on jeans or dress pants, and isn't overly harsh on your hands. I have not only managed to keep it this long, but it is still in very good shape with minimal wear on the action and finishes. The blade has kept a reasonably sharp edge being used to cut all the wrong things (cardboard etc) and I have only had to touch it up a few times.Few of the highlights to me: black finish so it is less observable, durable finish, solid edge, serrations for when you just need it to cut/saw through something, assisted opening is great and reliable, build and material quality very good, inexpensive (for a quality knife.I really cannot think of any cons for this knife.

Volt II serrated stainless steel
Very good! Volt II Volt II serrated stainless steel. This has become my new favorite EDC. It is sharp out of the box. It functions very well and seems to be of good quality. It is light enough not to be a problem unit. I'm a fan of partial serrated knifes so this unit fits the bill. The price is reasonable to replace if needed.

I love this knife, but quality in mine was lacking slightly
This knife has so many pro's... Excellent size and weight for a daily carry option. It is also just barely big enough, with just enough traction and a fast enough deployment, to use as an emergency defensive tool if the need should arise. But let's not kid ourselves, this little baby shines as a daily tool. The handle has great texture and a decent finger groove under the blade, and the blade has a nice ramp with a good textured spine, all of this gives it excellent traction. The finger groove under the blade (where you disengage the liner lock) also has texture, and doubles as a safety measure when the flipper is in the deployed position. If you are holding this knife properly, it is unlikely to fold the blade on your finger even if the lock fails, much more likely to pinch you instead (very preferable). It DOES have a lanyard hole, something sorely missed in some designs. The steel they use here can rust on you if you put it away wet, but is otherwise very nice. It holds a decent edge, and gets razor sharp. It will not hold a razor edge as long as some knives, but you would also have to spend 300% of the price to even START to get to a much better knife than this. The speedsafe deployment is excellent. Quick, easy to deploy, and easy to put away. It also keeps the knife from opening in your pocket or bag. The pocketclip is also a definite work of art. It may look a little weird, but in function it is the best clip I've had on a folding knife. It holds a great grip, can be positioned to either corner or side of the knife, slides easily on and off even a thick pocket, buries DEEP so you don't lose it, and also doesn't seem to intrude outwards and get caught on anything or scratch up my vehicle when reaching into it. It is NOT a pass through design however, making it so-so for food preparation due to difficulty cleaning in the field if you ever need to fold it up while dirty for a moment. But this is a very small caveat, and I use it for food prep anyway, making sure to thoroughly clean it before I ever fold it up. All in all this is an EXCELLENT knife, even at twice the price. At the $25 price tag I bought it for, it is the buy of the century to me.Now, I left ONE star off of the review... That is because the exact model I got seemed to slip by quality control. I have owned several budget Kershaw knives, and also give them as gifts often, and have gotten awesome blades 99% of the time. However, this one was centered badly enough to rub one side when closing or opening. Also, the lock is never 100% secure with no wiggle either way, until I've tightened the pivot bolt to a point that it is significantly harder to open with the Speedsafe. Finally, after owning this knife for 2 months, the Speedsafe failed on me and no longer works, so I've removed it to continue using it unhindered daily. Kershaw will fix all of these things, I just haven't sent it in yet. Looking forward to getting another $25 gem back from them when I do though!
