Minnesota's Hidden Alphabet

Too bad this darling book is limited by its title. Rightly, it is NATURE'S alphabet. Any child anywhere will delight in discovering their own alphabet where ever they live. What a fun and adventurous time can be shared by a family or classroom, using this beautiful guide.

My children and I enjoyed looking for the letters in each picture. They aren't as obvious as the ones I've seen from architecture, but let's face it; it's nature. This is also a great book for Wisconsinites because it features many things that are similar to both states.

Nice simple text for those who are just learning the alphabet. Interesting facts for those that are a little bit older. Beware, it may be just the beginning of your own hike/search for letters in nature!

beautiful book not only for preschoolers! Great pictures with interesting pieces of informations on each side. We are definitely going to gift this to out of state visitors :)

Photographer, Joe Rossi and children's author, David LaRochelle have done a marvelous job with "Minnesota's Hidden Alphabet", while taking the alphabet to a whole new level. If you are at all interested in teaching your children to connect with their natural world, this book is a must have for your home, school library, or anywhere else children can be found. Though the photos were taken in Minnesota, it's a book with universal appeal for both children and adults throughout this country who love beautiful photography. The time and care that Rossi has taken in searching for each letter in nature, paired with LaRochelle's descriptions of up-close happenings in nature, is sure to take children outside in search of their own alphabet. As a former public school kindergarten teacher, I know that children love repetition, variety and surprises. The 26 letters that Rossi found in many unusual places, do a fine job of teaching children to see outside of the box.
