The best tape gun, at any price.
This is a top quality tape gun. A lot of manufacturers throw around the term "Heavy Duty" labeling it on all kinds of garbage, so it has really lost it's meaning. However this tape gun is as good as it gets. I think "Industrial Duty" better describes this item. I offer my qualifications as a tape gun reviewer; I have worked in a very large distribution center for 6 years, and spent months running a department packaging online orders to customers. My employer isn't as big as Amazon, but everyone has heard of them. I have spent 10 hours operating a tape gun at times. I know a good tape gun as soon as I pick one up.So I purchased this tape gun because it looked very similar to the new batch we had received at work (the best ones yet) which came from ULine, and someone on here said their tape gun was made in Italy which the ones I have used were. Also, this thing is a dirt cheap bargain at 10 bucks! Well the one I got says nothing about it's origins on the tape gun itself but it did have a tiny "Made in Taiwan" sticker on the box it came in. No big deal, the quality is clearly there. In fact this tape gun is BETTER than the ULine ones, because those have one fatal flaw. If the operator is of the temporary employee variety it seems that they always attempt to unscrew the tension knob in order to change out the tape. What happens next is the little spring flies across the room, never to be seen again and now you have a paper weight. This tape gun has a little clip on the end which prevents the tension knob from being completely removed unless you really want to. Perfect! Clearly these people know how to make a good tape gun. Everything that needs to be metal is, but it still is not excessively heavy. If you are a business, do not hesitate to buy a hundred of these things. They're as good as it gets. If you are just a regular person looking to tape some moving boxes or sell some stuff on Ebay, well this thing is better and cheaper than one you would go pick up at the local big box store. And it can probably double as a hammer.Highlights: Metal tension knob with awesome little clip to keep it there, nylon washers on the outside of the tape holder (sorry, what else do you call it?) to keep it turning smooth, the metal piece that keeps the tape pressed against the rubber wheel flips down for fast and frustration free tape changes, replaceable tape cutting teeth because they always get messed up, no stupid foam on the handle to fall apart and get all over the place. Also it's cheaper than many of the other inferior tape guns I have seen on here.Cons: Others have a slightly more compact design, and it is a little heavy for some with a full roll of tape on it.

Killer tape gun, 3M has looks but this works!
I have this a shot after losing my 3M tape gun, which I always felt like an idiot using the 3M, it has a lot of safety features A.K.A stuff that stop the blade cutting the tape. Not this thing! You need to be careful because the blade extends very easily and can/will cut you. It’s not pretty but you can tape up boxes like no joke. It does indeed lack assembly instructions, and if you lack the ability to think then you might have trouble. Take tape, push the big hole over the big center thing on the gun, peel off a little tape and thread it through the gap of the roller wheel and locking mechanism. Pro tip: when your put the roll on, spin it, if the edge of tape is turning clockwise you have the roll on backwards so flip it over. Pro tip 2: The metal guard that touches the wheel can be flipped backwards for easy threading.

Very nice, highly recommend. One of the best buy ever
This is really good! We used to use the other tach it hs180 like model and although it doesn't fall apart, we start to have to put alot of tape replace blades very often. Very hesitant at first, but went ahead with buying 30 guns at one time... Omg I love it replaced 15 employee's gun, and they love it too!!!With this new unit, the red metal is very well constructed. The housing for the tape is sturdy because of the hollow 3 point wheel, I think its the reason why slightly off-spec core tapes will still work well. The natural rubber keeps the tape up so its ready to apply new tape. The tension control is in full metal, less breaking if overturned. The blade is thicker so I suspect it will last quite a bit longer. Handle is also much sturdier slightly thicker than the previously used. If you look at the picture the tape is in constant tension meaning it will give very good stretch and adhesion. Slightly heavier but definitely shows quality.

This is the one
For household use I ordered this, the Scotch H180 and the TapeKing TX100 to compare them, and was surprised to find that the Scotch and TapeKing models are identical except for color and trademarking. Although lightweight, I found them awkward and difficult to load and use - and would not have known why without seeing this Tach-it, which is designed correctly. The Tach-it works better because its handle is positioned to balance the weight of the gun, using the weight to make it easier to apply tape. Also - important to me with small hands - the metal tab that opens to thread the tape pulls back and stays open by itself. The Scotch and TapeKing tabs have to be held open during tape loading.

Heavy (which is good) but no instructions (which is not so good)
The first thing you notice about this tape gun dispenser is that it's no simple piece of plastic. The handle and rollers may be plastic but the entire top frame is metal which means it's heavy (in a good way). The quality looks top notch. The biggest gripe I had was that there were no instructions for people who have never used one of these before. I had to go on the tube to find out how to actually load and use this thing. However, once I figured that out, I slid on a tape that I had at home and loaded it up. There is tightening knob on the main roller so that you can adjust its friction. The plastic shield presses down on the tape as you stretch it out over a box (or whatever) so that you don't need to use a hand to do that. Then when ready to cut the tape, the toothed blade cut it clean without any snagging. After fumbling with scissors for years, this machine is a welcome change to help with taping up boxes.

Moving or have a Business...buy this Tape Gun
Far better than the junk tape guns we bought from WM. Ugh! We wasted our money at WM on poorly designed over regulated versions of this tape gun. Frankly, I'd rather use a garden hoe to cut my box tape than the retractable mechanism Scotch tape guns use. And the cheaply made Duck tape guns have a poorly designed tape feed that keeps sticking to the tape. Not sure what Duck was thinking when they designed it. Not good.Tip: Use a light tension on the tape spool and you'll be loving this tape gun.Hope this helps.

Just what I was looking for
Packing tape is the worst stuff to work with. It's always difficult to find the end of it, it often splits when you pull it.I bought this out of sheer frustration with trying to manually manipulate packing tape. It's a godsend. It smoothly lays down the tape exactly where I want it, with good tension. And no more trying to use fingernails to try to find and peel the d**n end of the roll!
