elysia Skulpter 500 Microphone Preamp

This is a top quality piece of equipment. I use it on everything from vocals, guitar, keys, and drum machines. It makes it all sound good. Things sit in the mix easier. The shape knob adds the sparkly air to vocals. Tracking clean DI guitar worked better than I expected. Most of the times on other preamps the outcome is usually unimpressive and hard to get to sound convincing in a mix, but through the Elysia it just works and it sounds good. It it clear and has this nice bell like clean tone. Using the compressor with the DI guitar also sounded great. This compressor has a transparency to it that is better for general use more so than for pumping ambient drum mics. So it is great on vocals, acoustic guitars, bass DI, and helping to smooth things out without pumping too much. Nice thing is it is an easy one knob compressor.Overall this is a very very good front end piece of gear to have in your signal chain. If you are going to have only one quality piece this should be the one piece. I highly recommend you give the Elysia Skulptor a try.
