If you suffer from elevated Uric Acid, you owe it to yourself to try this!
Dealing with gout I was having painful flare ups every few weeks and was using colchicine and ibuprofen to manage. Last blood test showed my uric acid levels at over 9 mg/dL - normal is 6 mg/dL or lower. Doc wanted to put me on Uloric, but having done some research I convinced him to let me try this first. It took a few months faithfully taking twice/day (this is normal and supported by the clinical trials), but by the third month and on I've had no more flare ups and am mostly pain free. I was taking a ton of ibuprofen for pain management (not good for you) and now seldom reach for it. Have not had a blood test yet to get an actual number, but based on my lack of symptoms I know it will be much closer to normal. And of course I'm trying to be good about being extra hydrated and watching what I eat, but haven't had to change my lifestyle habits much. Oh and zero side-effects from this supplement for me.Clinical trials - the use of Terminalia Billerica for lowering of uric acid levels is supported by clinical trials. Do yourself a favor and Google "Life Extension Prevent Gout Attacks by Lowering Uric Acid Levels" from which you should find a link to the Life Extension article that thoroughly discusses the clinical trial results and provides supporting links to NIH, NLM clinical trial/research results. Will it work for everyone? Can't say. But if you suffer from gout pain it will only cost you about $50 for three months worth to find out - but take it FAITHFULLY twice a day for a MINIMUM of three months. Otherwise you may be wasting your time and money. One other thing. Based on my results, my doc now recommends his gout patients try this first before reaching for his prescription pad. Awesome!*** Over a year later and still my "must have for gout"***If I get lazy or think "is this really doing anything to help" and slow down or stop taking, I pay for it! So I still take faithfully twice a day!

It works, thats what is important
It works. That is what is important. It is a big nasty hard to take capsule, but it works. I didn't even take this as directed, I took it once or maybe twice a day after a meal when I remembered and when I suspected a gout flare, and this minimized it and killed it. Amazing product. I'm not that old, I'm 22, I work on my feet, and my dad suffered gout from a young age as I do and we generally have to watch our diets. This gave me a bit more freedom to go out with my friends and have some pizza and beer and not worry about the pain. I will continue to order and use this product.

For me it worked within 1 hour. Gout pain was minimized
For me, it worked within 1 hour. Gout pain was minimized to a tolerable level. I tried Natures Craft Uric Acid formula which flared up my gout to intolerable levels. Oh man, I was cursing like a sailor when I threw that bottle in the garbage. Listen; you probably tried many remedies that provide mediocre results. When you are in linear pain you will seek anything to suppress or stop it. Knowing that this is a lifelong illness you need to have a solution once that pain hits. This worked for me and it might work for you.

Just doesn't work
I have had high uric acid and gout for 17 years. Didn't want to go on a prescription drug so I would drink plenty of water if I felt an attack was coming. That worked so that the attack would be mild and only last a few hours. Blood tests said my uric acid was 7.8 mg/dl. I read the life extension double blind placebo study done in India and it sounded well done, but I am naturally suspicious of clinical studies because there are too many variables to deal with. I checked into potential side effects and with bellerica terminilla being an edible fruit, I didn't think there would be any toxicity concerns.Followed the recommendation to take two capsules per day and after 6 months, had my blood uric acid checked. It had gone up to 8.95 mg/dl. So I doubled down on the dosage with 4 capsules per day since the clinical study indicated it was dose dependent. Did this for 6 more months despite the high cost and again had my blood uric acid test checked. Again it was 8.95 mg/dl. I then went on Allopurinol and had stellar results with uric acid below 6 mg/dl. So the only conclusion that I can draw is that Life Extension needs to withdraw the product because it isn't effective. My recommendation is don't waste your money. Go on Allopurinol, which under my insurance costs $3 per month instead of the $36 I was paying Life Extension. I have had no side effects on Allopurinol so I wish I had gone on it 17 years ago when I was first diagnosed.
