3.5* Bo Rocks
I get the idea that is part of a 1985 Dick Clark TV extravaganza, as I see "ABC Entertainment" and the plethora of super stars who would alwsy arrive at a Look-Back show which ended with a feature "oldie" and had that predictable "all-Stra cast. In this case, Chuck Berry, Mick Fleetwood, Chuck Negron, Ron Wood, etc. The liners offer nothing of use if one wants to really *know* the ins and outs of this historic occasion. The sound is very good > Bo, at 57, is energetic, doing an almost-all uptempo set, save I'M A MAN. In that mode, we get two chart-makers from the early '60s, GUNSLINGER and YOU CAN'T JUDGE A BOOK BY THE COVER. A great recent album cut for Bo, BO DIDDLEY PUT THE ROCK IN ROCK AND ROLL, is addressed as if went Top 10.Chuck B. is also on hand and does a rockin' ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC, which fairly explodes until about mid-point and then...yikes. The tune ends about 11 times and the horns keep riffing, anyway. He does DESTINATION (let's assume it's a mis-title for BIO), a completely satisfying effort - a 1974 album cut for him - as unusual, great lyrics and engaging licks.Sometimes "more" is too much and I gotta say I prefer BRING IT TO JEROME, the album closer, Bo, apparently with his own funky blues backup. Great to hear him warble on a number originally sung by his maracca man, Jerome Green.
