Valley of the Lost: Deltora Quest, Book 7

Emily Rodda is a fantastic story teller and this is a fantastic series for the whole family. Easy reads and you are able to see, smell and feel the way that the characters feel in the book. You are there with the characters. Very happy.

This is a very good book for children to read. My son doesn't really like to read and he liked this book and it kept his attention.

Emily Rodda did not disappoint in this book 7. Another great book with a fascinating puzzle to solve which the reader can also share in trying to solve. See if you can do better than the companions.They have pirates to face and then there are three other characters from previous books that face the companions before they enter the Valley of the Lost (one of whom will face death)and the search for the final stone. Can you figure out their part in this quest as it starts to approach the finish for surly they have yet a part to play. Their quest seems impossible against powers they cannot fight and a stone which they cannot take, but yet it has seemed that way as the search has gone after each stone. Still this is different. Will all the companions survive this last search? A great book and just one left in the series.

Six gems weigh down the Belt of Deltora. Now the three must persue the final challenge, the Valley of the Lost. They know that the great Diamond awaits them. When they arrive, many people who are little more then shadows are there, many from the city they hoped hid the heir - Tora, sister city to Del. Inside, fighting monsters is not their challenge. Instead, several mind games do. Jasmine wishes to take the Diamond by force, but Lief knows better. As they figure out the last puzzle just as their time is gone, they are given permission to take the diamond. But the Guardian had switched the diamond for a different one. They realize that the woman who had followed them and pretended to leave had stolen it. They are told to go get it, so finally the Belt is complete. The Valley of the Lost disappears, and the people within are returned to normal. Now they must find the heir.

Lief, Barda and Jasmine now need the very last gem, the diamond, to complete the belt of deltora.But when they enter the deadly mists of the valley, they find themselves stuck in a valley of lost souls.The guardian, being a gambling man, lets them keep the gem if they can solve his riddle, the riddle of time.With the trickster, Nerida, our heroes solve the code and find themselves face to face with the evil guardian of the lost and his organs envy, greed, hate and pride.If our heoes solve the riddle they will leave with the gem, if not, they will find themselves trapped in the swirling mists of the valley, and there will be a death of misfortune from the diamond, for anyone who tries to steal the diamond will meet their misfortune.Can they trust Nerida?This is a must-read for all Deltora Quest fans!

I had bought this for my friend's birthday. She loves Emily Rodda's books. But seeing the condition of the book, felt ashamed to give it. But I had no choice. It was not worth the price. I know it was second hand but the description was completely false. The book was old, edges damageD :((

Deltora Questシリーズ第７巻。リーフ達は７つめの宝石を求めて旅を続けます。個人的にシリーズ中で特に気に入っているのが、この７巻です。他の巻にもなぞなぞはありますが、この巻の謎は特に面白い！リーフ達と真剣に謎解きに挑戦したくなること間違いなしです。もちろん、お話自体も、他の巻と同じくひねりがきいていて面白いですよ。このシリーズは、話の面白さだけではなく謎解きの楽しさもあり、いろいろ面白い要素を取り入れた贅沢な本だと言えます。

これまでのシリーズの中で独特なボスキャラです。頭脳戦が展開されます。しかも制限時間がロウソクの炎という猛烈なサスペンスがあります。特に「図形の穴埋め」と「間違い探し」が面白かったです。答えを読んでしまうのがもったいないので、ページを止めて考えたくなります。大人が解くと、途中で答えが予測できてしまうのですが、「えっそんなことあるはずない」と思いますよ。

このシリーズの全般的なの特徴でもありますが、最後が割とあっさりとしており、若干拍子抜けします。ただ、それを割り引いても十分楽しめるでしょう。
