I tried a fancier, more expensive ruler, but this one does the job for less. I set it on my rotary cutting mat, then marked onto the mat how big of a square of foundation to cut, then cut the foundation diagonally into two triangles. Then I used the ruler as is for the kite. For example, if you want the large sized kite, then set the top of that size on the ruler flush with the corner of your mat. Then mark the place where the point hits. Then turn the ruler around so that you have the point on that same line you just made, but the opposite direction. You'll see that you need to cut your interfacing into 10 and five eighths inch squares. Then cut those squares into triangles.

So handy to make seasonal table runners, coasters etc, I love this.

It's not like I need another ruler for quilting !! This one makes the kite block simple and accurate. It was a pattern I've been wanting to try for a long time. With this, it is so much easier.
