Snuza Hero baby monitor is a wearable device which attaches to your baby's diaper and monitors your baby’s abdominal movements. The Hero detects the slightest of movements and will alert you if abdominal movement is weak or less than eight movements per minute. If the Snuza Hero detects no abdominal movement for 15 seconds, it will vibrate in an effort to rouse your baby to resume abdominal movements. Often the vibration is enough to rouse the infant and Hero will revert to monitoring mode. However, after three vibration/rousing incidents, a Rouse Warning will alert you that movement has stopped for 15 seconds on three occasions. If an additional 5 seconds of no abdominal movement is detected a sharp audible alarm will sound.

Loss Mama Essential + Tips for Common Issues (Newborn Use, False Alarms, Batteries)
I cannot sing the praises of this little device enough. If you are struggling with postpartum anxiety, the Snuza is a lifesaver - worth EVERY penny (and every false alarm!). After losing my daughter 2 days before my due date to stillbirth, I was frantic with terror that our son (born a year later) would die suddenly and inexplicably as well. If not for the Snuza, I don't think I would have slept the entire first year of his life. And now almost 4 years later with our second daughter, even though my PPA is much better this time around, it still just takes SUCH a weight off knowing she's wearing it. I really cannot recommend this product enough, especially for anyone who has lost a child and is terrified of it happening again. Yes, some cases of SIDS may not be preventable, but at the very least you'll know you did everything in your power to save your baby (and if you're already living with a lifetime of guilt over another loss, you know how much that is worth!).There are a lot of cool monitors on the market these days (much more so than when we bought our Snuza 4 years ago), but I still would choose this over the others for several reasons. First, the simplicity - it's a small, portable, self-contained, mechanical (no bluetooth/wifi/electrical waves) monitor with no cords, no connectivity issues, no recharging, etc. Unlike other products, you don't have to worry about it syncing with your phone, there are no extra parts or potentially strangling cords to keep track of, and you can bring it anywhere. It's very straightforward to use, gives you just the information you need, and is very reliable. Not to mention the price is a fraction of some of the other options out there.Of course, no product is perfect, and this one is not without its drawbacks. That being said, we've found workable solutions for pretty much every issue we've run into. In case it's helpful to anyone else, here is a rundown of the top issues and the solutions we've used:Issue: Too big to use on newborn diaper, especially while umbilical cord stump is in the waySolution: Make a Snuza pocket onesie (see photo for example). It's very easy and works like a charm - simply take a snug-fitting onesie, grab a patch of extra fabric (something stiff-ish works best) and cut it into a small pocket just big enough to slide the Snuza clip into (you may want to fold over the top edge a few times to give it a thicker part to clip onto more securely), then sew/glue the pocket on the onesie so that the Snuza will sit on chest just above the umbilical cord stump. Put this under your baby's sleep sack and you're golden. (If the light seems to be flashing too bright in baby's face, a few layers of painter's tape will do the trick to dim it so it's not obnoxious.)Issue: Battery problems (dead on arrival, hard to find replacements, replacements don't last)Solution: We got burned by this twice (ended up with a dead Snuza for the first week of our child's life), so don't do what we did. About a week before your baby is due, test your Snuza and make sure it's working. Even if it seems great, order a set of backup batteries and put them in your hospital bag now (with my son, our Snuza magically died in the days before he was born, and we didn't have a backup on hand). If you already have backup batteries, test them out before packing (with our daughter, we thought we were good with the 10 leftover batteries we had in the house - turns out they all magically died in storage in the preceding years!); actually, test them even if they're new (and then we accidentally ordered the wrong replacement batteries, sigh). Unfortunately the batteries are hard to find (we've only been able to get them from Amazon) and the ones sold on Amazon have terrible reviews - we have not found a solution to that, but luckily we haven't really experienced the issues others are reporting so it's been okay.Issue: False alarmsSolution: This bothers my husband way more than it bothers me - in my opinion, any number of false alarms is well worth the alternative of not catching a true emergency, so the top "solution" here is to just adjust your perspective (easier said than done when sleep-deprived, I know). That being said, depending on *why* you're getting false alarms, there are options. First, if it just won't stay on the diaper, try the Snuza pocket onesie idea above - may even work for an older baby who's rolling a lot or whose diaper gets too full overnight and loosens the Snuza (this started happening to us when my son got closer to a year and was sleeping through the night). I've also seen videos on YouTube of a DIY strap/belt that goes on top of the diaper. My other tip here is to get the Snuza Hero (not the cheaper model) b/c the vibration feature gives you a chance to turn it off *before* the alarm sounds and wakes the whole house (though my kids seem to sleep through the alarm anyway!) - I got really good at hearing the vibration in my sleep and quickly reaching over to deactivate it (right through the sleep sack) before checking on baby. Of course this won't work if your baby sleeps in a different room, but something to consider if you're really having a lot of false alarms and are committed to finding a solution. And really those are the only drawbacks we've found, again all with at least semi-workable solutions, and to my mind at least, well worth the peace of mind you get from the device. I recommend the Snuza to every new parent and will be using it with all of my kids for sure.

Life saving device.
Long time Snuza Mama here. I'm going to tell you why this is the smartest thing you could ever buy for your baby. First of all, no device replaces parent responsibility. You are responsible for how you look after your baby, and where and how you use this device. It's a device afterall. It has a limit to how loud it can be, so you still need to use a baby monitor to hear it go off if the baby is not sleeping nearby.I have been using this Snuza for three years and two babies now. It may have just saved my youngest baby's life last night, but more on that later. I have sung Snuza praises for the three years before that. I first purchased a Snuza when my middle child was born with respiratory issues. I took it to the hospital, and we started using it when he was released from the NICU.Yes, there are false alarms, but it's not a computer chip error...it's placement error of the parent and movement that knocks the Snuza loose and it falls off and causes a false alarm. Those who are annoyed by this are probably not attaching it correctly. It should be placed on the front of the diaper, which is folded down a bit to create a secure thick space to clip it on. It should be placed right in front of and on the belly button area or right next to it. Placing too far to the side will result in it falling off or causing a bruise on the hip. If you're using it on a belly sleeper, it should be placed in the same place only on the back, on the diaper. If you have a baby that doesn't like the way it feels, you can place it over thin pajamas. I use a onesie and a pair of pants, and then clip onto the waist band. If pants are loose, fold down the waist band once to make it more secure. Ok...now that you know how to place it correctly, here's why it's so important to me, and could help you too.The Snuza alerted me when my sensitive, struggling baby couldnt take big breaths enough to get oxygen to his lungs. If he didn't raise his belly high enough to fill his lungs, the Snuza wouldn't count those breaths and it would go off in enough time to alert me to wake him up so he would take a deep breath and get into a normal breathing pattern again. Did I lose a ton of sleep over the constant "false alarms"? Yes I did. Was it worth every single second of lost sleep to make sure my fragile baby had a fair shake at life and overcoming his health issues? YES IT WAS. But if you think that this device is just for weak babies, think again. My youngest baby is four and a half months old, and was born well above average in health, weight, and just crushing those milestones. He's happy, healthy, and sturdy. But we still use a Snuza on him because it helps me relax a little to sleep better knowing it would wake me if something went wrong. And last night something went wrong. The Snuza went off, and he wasn't breathing. He hadn't been sick, and hadn't any reason for us to worry about him. I shook his belly, and he took a big gasp of air, and he went back to sleep. It's possible for babies to hold their breath while sleeping, and then be totally okay on their own (and I hope he would have been without the Snuza), but he was in a very deep sleep and there have been studies regarding sids and the brain switching off or not being able to send a message to the brain to resume breathing in deep sleep, and the unknown is scary for any parent. I am just grateful that we did have the Snuza, and that I was sleeping nearby to hear it trying to rouse him. It quite possibly may have saved his life last night while he was sleeping through the night, and we were too. So thank you to whomever invented this device for what you have done to give so many parents a sound piece of mind, and the ability to have post partum anxiety reduced (and possibly saving lives, which is absolutely priceless).

Best Movement Monitor because it's portable and easy to pack
I loved this baby monitor. I was so afraid of SIDS that I needed to be sure that my baby was still breathing and this monitor put my mind at ease so I wasn't up all night checking to see if my baby was still breathing (first time mom moment). This monitor unlike most of the other ones clip onto the diaper with a rubber piece touching the baby so it detects movement rather than a mat etc that the other brands have. It was great for travel, my in laws lived 4 hours away so when the baby was a newborn I would use it in the car on long trips to see grandma. The alarm was very sensitive and loud enough to wake you, at first it will give a little vibration to try to startle the baby to create movement before the alarm goes off and if that doesn't work it will go off until you stop it. It is perfect for newborns rights up until they start moving a lot then they will either start tugging at it or when they move in their sleep it will fall off and the alarm will go off waking them and you. I recommend this monitor to everyone, but I also recommend buying an extra battery to go with it. Although the battery that comes with it lasts for a long time, I did have to replace mine and I had a hard time finding them in stores so I bought one online.

Noches tranquilas

Good option to monitor baby's breathing
-It works! As long it is properly on It does beep or let you know if baby is breathing.-keep in mind babies will need few changes at night if you don't mind make it part of the routine to take off and put on the snuzza it will work for you.-You have to make sure device is properly clipped to the diaper to avoid false alarms. In my case baby sometimes will move his legs and the device will move and not be properly on It took me few tries to figure it out.-I like that it uses minimal technology baby is not expose to wires or wifi
