Before the animation industry became dominated by the major studios and their familiar stable of characters, there were other companies who entertained theater audiences with wild excursions into cartoon fantasies. Experimentation was the rule as the boundaries of cinematic animation were being pushed to the limit and many of these early productions have the raw look of a work in progress. These classic animated shorts from the early days of sound were created by nearly forgotten production pioneers like Van Beuren Studios and Max and Dave Fleischer. Hilarious, inventive, sometimes risque and often surreal, these films are the fabulous forerunners of every cartoon we've ever watched in the theater or on TV. Laugh again at the cartoons your grandparents enjoyed in the 1930s.This unique DVD includes the following cartoons:Opening Night - 1933The Cobweb Hotel - 1936Piano Tooners - 1932It's A Greek Life - 1936Merry Kittens - 1935Hollywood Capers - 1935Rocketeers - 1932Gay Gaucho - 1933A Little Bird Told Me - 1934The Pincushionman - 1935In The Bag - 1932Molly Moo-Cow & The Butterflies - 1935 A Cartoon Travesty Of The Raven - 1942 Pots And Pans - 1932 Cupid Gets His Man - 1936

Very Bizarre But Exactly What I Wanted
Old cartoons were super weird and this DVD got a bunch of them in one easy place. I bought this solely for "Cobweb Hotel" because that cartoon was one of my favorites as a kid (even though it absolutely terrified me). I can't wait to watch the others on here.

Low Quailty DVD-R Video
The product is a DVD-R disk and is not factory pressed. The quality of the video and audio are poor. I would bet the source material was probably from internet download. The back of the package displays the website for the distributor which made me think it was a factory pressing, but I was wrong. If you are looking for a high quality pressing of these titles, this is not it. However if you are looking for low quality DVD-R disks that may have been sourced from free internet downloads go ahead and buy. I would like to note though that I doubt this would be considered as pirated, because based upon the copyright dates these titles may be in the public domain.
