A Deal with the Elf King

Lulella wasn't ready for love and definitely not ready to be a queen. She was a healer, herbologist for her town. But when the Elf King came to her village to find his Human Queen and looked at her, she knew her life was gonna change. Very good kept you wanting to read and fing out what was next. Very good writing.

I liked this slow burn arranged marriage rom with beauty and the beast & hades and persephone vibes. Elise Kova wrote a fun, light, and fluffy story with interesting characters. I liked the relationship that blossomed with Eldas and Luella, especially learning Eldas backstory and his sacrifices. I will say the first scene with Harrow, I disliked him but as the story progressed he definitely became my favorite character. I got the graphic audible version (my first one) and it was a great performance but my ADD couldn’t take how loud the background music was when they were talking.

Magic is rare in thy human world, so when the Elf King came to Luella's town and told her she was the Human Queen, she was terrified. She didn't have magic, or so she thought. She was quickly married to the dark Elf King, and her life was about to change in so many unpredictable ways.This is a story of magic, mystery, acceptance, and unbidden love. The dark Elf King and his new human bride were now in a quest to absolve the need for an Elf King to seek out a magical human Queen every 100 years in order to keep the seasons of Midscape normal and predictable. Luella was determined to be free of Midscape and return to her home in the human world, so she sought out the journals of all the previous queens to help her stabilize the seasons. She succeeded in the end, but her return to her hometown wasn't as satisfying as she was expecting. During her time in midscape working with the Elf King, learning to use her magic, and spending her time not only in the apothecary but reading journals, she gained good friends,had adventures, found a faithful wolf hound of the fade as a pet and protector, fell in love with the Elf King, and he with her. Despite love, or in spite of love, they succeeded in their quest and announced their love to the world just in time for their coronation.Just a heads up. The intimate scenes in this book are not for younger teens. They are still implied scenes with more detail about what their doing to each other, yet they aren't graphic like a Halequin book. I was uncomfortable seeing these situations and skipped over several sections of the book because I didn't want to know these details. I think the book would've been better off with less detail here. My young pre-teen and early tween granddaughters like to read my books, so I try to make sure I only have clean books here for them to read. They know I love Elise Kova's books, so they seek them out for their Amazon Kindle books. This is one I asked them not to read until they were older teens. By then, they'd have more exposure to sex from friends and the world in general. I'd like to keep them innocent but not ignorant of these types of relationships.It's not one of Elise's best books, but it's still a captivating story. I did buy this book for my Kindle and have read it a few times, but it's not one I'll buy in paperback form.Despite the uncomfortable scenes, this book still earns a full 5 stars.

Strong female lead who didn’t let people push her around. Character growth with almost everyone. Cute romantasy. Slow burn with minimal smut.

What a fun, bingeable read. This is a standalone but set in a greater world that is part of a series.Luella is sassy, headstrong, and so smart. Which I adore in a female main character. This was a fun take on Hades x Persephone and I really enjoyed myself.Kova's writing style very much appeals to me and the pacing was quite good. A few slower moments, but overall it made up for it with a formula that kept you engaged without getting you bogged down in world building or complex magic systems. The simplicity paired with a fun narrative really worked for me.This story is a good tale. It doesn't take over your brain and force you into a slump, but every page is a fun time and keeps you interested in knowing what happens next. I also really enjoy that each book is a standalone, because, I don't think I would be interested in several books about these characters. I like knowing I might see them again, but I get to keep expanding the world and learning more and meeting new people that might be more (or less) interesting. Which makes for a great kind of series.

A wondrous romantasy that sweeps you off your feet. This young adult romance was swoon-worthy and sweet.I’ll admit it took me a little bit to get into the writing style but once I did I was able to fall in love with the characters and their story.I enjoyed the concept it was light and fun to read with little sprinkles of danger and suspense.I loved getting to know the characters more and seeing their relationship develop over the story.There were lots of delightful tropes like; arranged marriage, shadow daddy vibes, royalty, finding oneself, light enemies to lovers, and more!

This was surprisingly awesome. I couldn't put it down and read it in less than a day! Fantastic character development. Loved it!

Loved it. The only thing I didn’t like was that I had to read the bonus epilogue to find out if he took a lover for children or how their lives were after the return. Worth it though. I really liked the action and suspense with a little added mystery about certain people. I would have appreciated slightly more detail in the love scenes but it was really a great read.

This was a page turner! I absolutely loved the worldbuilding, characters, and relationships! This is a unique plot with complex and rich detail to the setting and characters. The chemistry between Eldas and Luella is amazing and I love their banter. Their romance is so sweet and relatable. I felt so invested in the characters with the rich detail of writing. I also love how intelligent and strong our female main character is! She is capable and driven while also being genuinely kind and empathetic. A great read!

Fantasia não é um gênero fácil de se explorar e escrever. Requer pesquisa, base, regras e diversas outras coisas para fazer funcionar e para que o leitor tenha uma experiência proveitosa. Com isso, posso dizer que a autora mais do que acertou. Em um único livro a autora nos trouxe um novo mundo e com personagens que vc acaba se apegando. Não vou negar que havia mais clichês do pude contar, mas mesmo assim, não consegui lagar a leitura. Amei ver a desenvoltura da jornada desse casal tão contrário mas ao mesmo tempo tão certo. Valeu a experiência!

it was such an interesting and refreshing read, icouldn't put it down. it sucked me in right from the start which is rare for me and the reason for the 5th star. luella might be the loml from now on.
