Bookshop Tours of Britain

Simply a really nice book
This is one of those books that has an intrinsically nice look and feel even before you browse the content and there is a lot of great content to browse. You don't have to do the tours or even feel that stongly about bookshops (though there are some amazing ones detailed inside) to get something wonderfully warming from this book. The writing style and detailed descriptions take you along on the journey with the author as she travels through Britain. The book also lists detailed references and other nearby places of interest and things to see and do on each tour so it becomes a fabulous guidebook that is broader than purely the bookshops of its title and easily dipped in and out of piecemeal by wherever you happen to be going. Beautifully illustrated and full of photographs it's written with a genuine warmth and a clear love not only of the wonderful eclecticism and peaceful sanctuary of independent bookshops and booksellers across the country but also the joy of discovery and travel itself - its simply a really nice book.

Delightful
A friend showed me this little gem and I had to get my own copy. Delivery time was brilliant and I am very pleased to renew my acquaintance with this delightful and beautifully laid out book. It is a miniature 'coffee table' volume that as well as telling the book lover and fan of independent book sellers where to look, it encompasses the delights of the regional localities which has the feel of a virtual tour from your own arm chair. Small screen film producers take note, here is the basis of a TV series!

A bookshop lover’s bible.
If you love exploring and browsing independent bookshops whilst on holiday or days out this is a superb book.It includes lots of information about the area surrounding the bookshops. When this pandemic subsides and we can get back to some sort of normality bookshops, like those featured, will need all the help they can get.I just pray that most of them can survive the economic disaster we may face.Hopefully online sales will have helped.Buy this lovely book. You Will be glad you did and plan your own bookshop browsing expeditions but most of all...buy some books!

A beautiful inspiring travel book!
Beautifully written description of bookshops, their location and nearby attractions, visited by the author on her tours throughout the U.K. A delightful and very easy going, informative, and engaging read from start to finish. The book is beautifully written and for a soft back, is extremely well presented with lots of glossy photographs. An unusual travel book which left me inspired and yearning to get going!

A joyous and uplifting book!
This book is full of gorgeous photos and information about Bookshops around Britain. My local bookseller, where I bought my first copy, has this book in the window of the shop and has described it as a 'wonderful book'.I needed another copy to send as a present and, as the shop is closed at the moment due to Covid, I turned to Amazon.I just loved the book and have earmarked places that, once Covid is over, I shall definitely visit and I might even start 'bagging' bookshops myself!A brilliant Christmas present for someone who enjoys the delights and discoveries that can be found in a Bookshop.
