Great investment for your large scale gassers
This is a must have running large scale RC's. After having my Losi DBXL run away due to a radio glitch and one more time due to the battery wire coming disconnected both times at wide open throttle causing substantial damage to both the car and the fence it hit (thankfully it wasn't on the road either time)On my DBXL I have it set to the third channel on my radio, my HPI 5b only has a two channel radio and this works flawlessly on both cars. It is handy to have the third channel switch but not really required. With the third channel killing the motor is just a button push away, with the two channel radio all I have to do is turn the radio off to kill the motor on the car.It is a pain to install on the DBXL because you have to remove the motor from the car but the 5b install was a breeze. If you've already run the car this is a great opportunity to do all the maintenance as far as cleaning out the flywheel and such, if you have a new car that hasn't been run or hasn't been run much installing a pull-start filter is a good idea while you are working on it anyway.Installation does require the removal of the coil or lots small fingers to get the new wires plugged in so be sure to have something available to regap it, I used a piece of thin cardboard however a feeler gauge would be better to get it tuned just right.The unit has a LED output for diagnostic and to let you know its functional. On the DBXL I installed a light on the battery box lid, on the 5b I bought the Rovan lighted roof scoop with 3 LED's for this job which functions and looks great.It may seem a little pricey for what it is but after almost $400 in repairs to my DBXL this is a great investment!
