It's a bunch of little ball bearings and a magnetic base. The base consists of a black plastic oval with magnets inside. There's one 14mm bearing and the rest are a mix of 5mm and 8mm (ballpark measurements). I would strongly advise against placing this within reach of small children.

Strong magnet but I'm concerned about the small size of the marbles. I would take less with a larger size.

My son is autistic and adores magnets. I thought it was a perfect fit and he loved the pictures. However, these cannot make very good shapes. The balls don’t stick to each other and the magnet of the base isn’t strong enough to keep them together to stack to any decent height. It’s just a lump of metal balls that you can lose if you’re not careful.

I purchased two of these for my boys (under 10) and they love them. They are small and a great size for an adults desk or a child’s dresser. Of course children need to understand and be old enough to know why you don’t put magnets or small items in their mouths. But for anyone over 8, it’s an odd satisfaction to manipulate the magnetic balls into whatever you can come up with!

This was my son’s purchase and he’s now looking to add to it as he loves it. When we clean his room, we inevitably find some that have rolled off to the floor, but it’s no big deal to gather them back up.

I thought this would be a fantastic product to play with. However, you can’t raise the magnets very high meaning the balls because there’s not enough magnetic pull so really disappointing you can only stack 4-5 balls high before they fall down to get closer to the magnet or they fall off the pad. It’s very limited on what you can do with it. I don’t know how they were able to put a bunny on it.
