This works great and should be a part of every fire kit. The open middle section for your thumb to control the rope is a nice touch. It comes with plenty of rope to use. Just keep a small lighter, or anything that makes a spark nearby to ignite the rope and you’re in business.

Worked perfectly right from the start. It will be a useful tool to have on hand. The only bad thing I noticed was the large amount of twine that it comes with. It can be a little awkward manage it all. However, that is also a good thing. They give you a lot of twine which will last you a long time.

I know this looks kind of like one of those gimmicky tools, but I still found it enjoyable to use! I took a trip to Rushmore with my wife, and we got a few different non-conventional was to light the fire, I've always enjoyed char cloth and flint strikers, but sometimes its hard to get the conditions the way you want them, sometimes you just want to shove a match into the things to get it going. That's where this came in, I brought it knowing that its basically a match with extra steps, but I actually found it was worth it. It doesn't take much to fluff the end, and I got it lit with only a strike or two from my flint, then I could easily move it around, start my fire from more than one place without worrying that the match would burn down, break, or snuff out! It did take a little practice to get it lit one the first couple strikes, and its more expensive than a box of a thousand cheap matches, but I really did find it to be worth the extra cost.

so pleased how well and easily it took a spark. easily ruffled the end of the twine up a bit, and a few seconds later my flint got it caught on fire. just absolutely ideal for small, simple, lightweight, fire on the go. a flint, and this thing and i could get a bunch of legit fires going, rather than having to scrounge up natural tinder out in the woods, or bring single use tinder option. and replacing the twine is as easy as ordering some 6mm twine, and coating it some canning wax u can buy even just at walmart.

The tube and one wick weigh 10 grams, so it's very light. The unit comes with 3 wicks and the very lightweight tube. My son, the boy scout, lite it very easily with flint and it's even easier to put out (pull the wick backwards and the flame goes out when the wick enters the tube). The big advantage with this device is that it keeps the flame away from your hand. My son almost burns himself when lighting a fire with a lighter (flame near the hold down button), so this extends the flame away from the hand making fire starting easier.
