Daiwa FT Surf Spinning Rod

10' surf rods for less than $30 can't be beat. I've landed up to 30 lb catfish with this rod with small spinning reels and conventional reels. Throwing up to 6 oz of lead with 6 oz of cutbait about 80 yrds with little effort. 4oz of lead is the sweet spot. Casts a country mile with a conventional reel. Enough backbone to get the job for good sized blues yet very sensitive on the pan size channel bite.

Mine shipped without issue but I agreed it was packed funny. 2 long boxes taped together. But it wasn't damaged. I anticipate it to work fine.Update.This is a great rod. I travel with it on the plane with a pvc case. I have caught a lot of fish in florida from pompano to full size bonnethead sharks. It is very durable. I can cast hellafar. I wish it was a little more sensitive but for $22 I'm not complaining.

It came in a rough shape, and the rod was noticeably ben. Specifically the upper part of the rod. I would have to guess it’s a 1~1.5inch bend from where the rod should line up.

got the fishing rod and opened the box, no means of shipping material inside the box except for torn up plastic with holes on it and the top half and bottom half of the fishing rod was scuffed and have scratches on it, i wasnt angry but dissapointed.

I bought two of the 11 footers this spring, 2018. These were not purchased through Amazon as they likely would have arrived in several pieces due to careless packers who have no understanding of the product they are throwing into a box. I matched these rods with some Okuma ABF 55 series bait feeder reels. I probably could have gone up to a 65 series with no trouble. I initially bought them for Lake Michigan shore fishing. These have been my go to rods for monster carp and catfish. I can toss 3 ounce sinkers about 80 yards with a little effort and 12 pound Gamma Polyflex line. I’ve gone as heavy as 6 ounces worth of lead and roughly two ounces of bait with no ill effects. I have landed dozens of fish, some very large and these rods have handled them without issue. If you want something lightweight and sensitive then these are not for you. They are heavy and obnoxiously thick. Looks like you’re fishing with a railroad tie. The width is due to the tubular fiberglass which feels very significant. I have hauled in 10-15 pound carp as fast as I can turn the reel handle. I am convinced that there are no other options in this price range that are this confidence inspiring. Guides were nearly perfectly straight on my two examples if that is something that worries you. I absolutely recommend these rods, purchased from a source that can ship them in appropriate materials.
