information is anecdotal, writing style is subpar
This book is presented in a way that is similar to a magazine article. Tons of fillers, anecdotal information, and it's all repetitive and drawn out into an unfortunate book.

Pain and Love covered in Dirt and Crazy
I purchased Molly Hurford's book because like many Master's Mountain Bikers, I too have been eyeing the niche sport of Cyclocross. I expected to learn a little about its U.S. history and surprisingly found that some of its founders were not unknown to me. Coming from the New England scene it was easy to identify with the people that took to this gritty sport with gusto making it what it is today. The author does a good job explaining that Cyclocross is a combination of pain and love covered in dirt and crazy. The more I read, the more excited I became about the next season. It's time to stop hesitating and become one of the manic many who ignore the laws of physics in favor of a little fun.

Good information and history of the sport.
Some nice history on the sport. Most of first half was a who's who in the sport, at thereof waiting.
