TRY THIS TIP!
After receiving and inspecting it, I ordered 2 more. Excellent quality and workmanship, I'm delighted. BTW- I know juniper has natural oils but went one step further. After giving it a heavey coating of MINERAL oil, I wrapped it in plastic wrap and set aside overnight. Following that, I removed it from the wrap and wiped off the excess oil to reveal the beautiful grain and texture of the wood..Now, in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, it has an additional "layer" of protection plus a deep rich color. .

Goes rancid, but stunning
This knife IS gorgeous and a work of art. BUT...I had to stop using it and throw it out.Sadly, after a few months of daily use, as you can imagine, it absorbed the oils and milk proteins from the butter which meant the inevitable, it began to smell rancid.Even with washing it regularly, the juniper doesn't overrule the porous wood quality, so oils seep in which can't be completely washed out and over time they spoil, and you have an off-putting smell, which is off-putting to use on your food.Shame, this thing IS art..impressively beautiful, just not realistic.

It's just neat!
Okay so we have a butter tin, crock or whatever you want to call it on our kitchen counter. We also own a ridiculous amount of butter knives however I hate having a butter knife on the counter. It looks like you have a silverware living on your counter because you literally have silverware living on your counter! Then I saw this little gem! I don't know why a wooden knife looks so much better than a metal butter knife, but it does. For some stupid reason it is fun to use, works very well, cleans easily and is attractive. Buy the knife, spread some holiday cheese on a cracker for friends and family and be rest assured they will envy your little wooden knife.

Pretty, but flawed construction - Update (much better)
The knife is about 6-3/4" long. Okay for small hands. Looks nice, and the mosaic handle is pretty.But. I'd overlooked the face the handle was a mosaic. That fact was buried in the verbose description, my fault. This wouldn't have been a first choice for a knife-like utensil. But it is pretty, so I could live with that. The bad part is that there are gaps between the mosaic pieces of the handle and the "shaft" of the knife. The knife isn't well glued together. I consider this poor construction; returned.Update 29 Sept. '16: Okay, so as soon as the return was in the Supplier sent me a replacement Butter Knife (and an additional piece). The replacement it perfect. I have to give them points for their integrity (quick, no-questions replacement) and their faith in their product. It's a nice tool to use - it fits comfortably in the hand, and as others have noted juniper has a pleasant smell. Also, as a novice woodworker I can admire the selection of materials and the work that goes into a piece like this. I've only used it once so far but already this makes a fine addition to my kitchen tools.

FittSMILE Butter Knife Magic Handmade
The butter knife arrived a day earlier than expected which worked even better for me. I like the packaging it comes in. The knife arrived in perfect condition. it is lovely to look at and to hold and has a very nice weight and feel to it. This was a gift and the recipient was very happy, I also purchased an enamel butter dish with a wooden top and the knife looks good sitting on the wooded lid of the butter dish...very nice match, we are all very pleased with it.

Cool, but the handle is much too short!
I like this spreader, but the handle really needs to be at least three inches longer. Once you get halfway through a 16 oz. jar of peanut butter, your fingers will be covered. Same with mayo, jam etc. I've had no trouble with maintenance. It's easy to clean, has no flavor, no splinters. I always make sure it's dry when I put it away. A quality product. At $14.99, it's about $5.00 too much, but except for the far too short handle, I like it.

Very nice! Good size for spreading butter from butter bell!
The description and photos are accurate. It's a bit smaller than one might expect, but it's perfect for use with a butter bell, which is a French ceramic device that suspends butter upside-down in a bell top that fits into a larger container filled with a small amount of water to keep the butter from making contact with air. Juniper wood is great for those folks who like wood utensils, and the combination of the Juniper butter spreader and a butter bell makes for an excellent gift. .

Wooden butter knife
I bought this as a gift to my grownup son. He bought one many years ago in Sweden and has since lost it. This knife is much better quality than the first one. I know he will enjoy it. It's going in his Christmas stocking!

Spread the word.
Just the job, does exactly what I wanted it tin do. It will cut bread but that is not it’s intended purpose. It is great when you have forgotten to take the butter out. It recommends that you do not put it through the dishwasher, which I would agree with. Lovely little knife that is quirky but very effective.
