To All The Aspiring Mudders Out There...
August 2020 Update #2 (nearly 16 months later)--------------------------------How do I feel about Kraft tools? These photos of my collection should paint a complete picture :-)July 2020: Update! (14 Months Later) ---------------------------------------------KRAFT Putty Knives & Trowels are seriously the BEST. Since my original post, I've installed roughly 500 sq ft of brand new drywall and I've skim coated ceilings & walls of many rooms in my 1950's home.As a DIY'er, I've learned to genuinely enjoy the art of mudding --- and KRAFT played no small role in it. Here are some added pluses to add to my original review:- Nearly indestructible. I've accidentally left my knives submerged in a bucket of water for over a week on several occasions. Zero rust. The metal looks brand spanking new.- SHARP. These putty knives are sharper and crisper than any other I've come across. This is a major positive when mudding --- By simply changing the angle of the blade against the wall, you can cleanly remove wet mud OR hardened imperfections such as old paint drips, drywall lines or imperfections, etc (while prepping). When filling in holes, I no longer have to forcibly use the butt of the handle. I simply take the pointed corner of the knife, stick it in the hole and give it a 360 spin. Effortless divot ready for some 20 minute mud :)- SHARPPPP --- Our old electric range (stove) had probably a decades worth of baked on hardened spills. I tried cleaners with paper towels, scrub brushes, etc. Nothing worked. My trusty 4" Kraft, white vinegar and some elbow grease destroyed all traces of crud.- Limited Flex --- At first, I wasn't a fan. However, I found that lightening up my grip & holding the knife towards the back of the handle is CLUTCH. I'm getting much better results with far less effort than other flexible knives.- Rubber Grip --- I HATE to mention a single negative, because I'm a huge fan and don't want to dissuade anyone from a purchase. To be 100% transparent, the rubber grip on these knives are thin and do wear over time. I've put my knives through the ringer and that's likely the cause (weeks on end underwater LOL), so don't take this as a deterrent. I'm considering buying the all stainless version next, but either choice is a wise decision. In summary, my poor Hydes feel like Fisher Price toys now --- yearning for my attention. Do yourself a favor and pull the trigger already. All the savings in doing drywall work on your own will pay for this in minutes. The only reason I came to this page again was by mistake --- on the hunt for a 3" and 2" Kraft putty knife... and a larger finishing towel :). Hey Kraft... I'll happily take donations LOL.Buy. This. Product.May 2019: Original Review ---------------------------------------------------------You watched a few YouTube videos, decided to tackle a home renovation project and think to yourself... am I really this horrible at this?If you're like me, you started with Harbor Freight. Terrible - Dull and way too flexible. You step your game up with a 'higher end' Wal-Board from Home Depot. Unfortunately, on day 2, your "stainless steel" blade shows signs of pitting and rust. After talking to a few Pro's & browsing through Reddit, you discover Hyde.My 6-inch Hyde arrived a few weeks ago and my work immediately improved. Time & experience helped but the tool's performance is undeniable. It doesn't rust (with proper care), it's decently sharp with good amount flex. But what about Kraft? After getting a Kraft Trowel, I KNEW I had to try one of their legendary putty knives. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NK1Y0NE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)Unbelievable. You TRULY get what you pay for. Hyde will reliably get you from Point A to Point B, but KRAFT gets you there in style. From the CRISP sound of the SHARP blade, to it's ergonomic design --- this Kraft 4" (and 6") putty knife is a finely tuned instrument. You can immediately tell this company put some serious love in the development and manufacturing of this product. It feels like an extension of your hand, perfectly balanced and dying to throw some mud around. This knife deserves 5 out of 5 stars. To ease your mind, my blade was thoroughly protected in a cardboard-like sheath and then encased in a separate plastic bag (5/9/19). If "Made in USA" is important to you, I believe only the rubbery grip is done overseas. Personally, I could care less and will continue to buy Kraft products even if they were to move manufacturing to an outhouse in some foreign jungle.Buy. This. Knife.

One of the best knives out there
Bought this to replace my old use green handle stainless knife. This one almost felt worn in when I got it. Only took about 3 days to get it how I wanted it. Hammerhead works great but my only complaint is it doesn’t “write” on drywall like my use did. I’m definitely gonna get a 4 inch next.

Excellent degree of flexibility!
Out of the dozen or so knives I own this one became my favorite instantly.... effortless to use. I took a few, literally a few, swipes with an Arkansas black hard sharpening stone to smooth the edges and corners of the blade and it was perfect.

Very pleased with this product.
NOTE: I am not a professional but a home DIY-er. Product works as intended, easy to use and easy to clean. I wash mine in hot water as soon as possible after finishing a project and have left it to drip dry without issue, i.e. no rusting. I purchased this particular brand after watching a YouTube video by a professional carpenter reviewing carbon vs. stainless steel drywall tools. He didn't even review this brand but briefly mentioned how much he liked this particular brand's tool when he had used it in the past. I decided to try this out after another knife brand I owned (purchased at HD) rusted after first use/ same treatment.

5-Inch size is perfect! Exceptional design and excellent ergonomics! Made in China
Kraft Tool All Stainless Steel Joint Knife with Sure Grip Handle, 5-Inch. 5-Inch size is perfect! Exceptional design and excellent ergonomics! These Joint Knifes are Polished stainless steel with a durable inlayed rubber grip. The joint knives with Sure Grip Handle are made in China but the ones without the grip are made in the USA, not sure why that is. But you would never know these are made in China, the quality is excellent. I've upgraded on new high-end tools and all of them have a size printed or engraved on them. I would like to see on Kraft Tools products with size increments on them, for instance 4", 5" and so on.

I liked my Hyde knife as it was better than the ...
The quality of this knife is so far above what you find in the big box stores, there really is no comparison. I am a DIY'er but have worked on some big projects and have another one going right now. I liked my Hyde knife as it was better than the other products I had found. This knife makes my Hyde knives look and feel like bargain brand junk. I'm already going to buy another one just in case I lose or somehow damage this one.

Get this first
Don't use this product unless its this quality and material. I used the kind you buy for drywall and they rust quickly. This one is awesome and the handle doesn't get hot. I even use it to chop the meat on my Black Stone griddle. It's that sharp.

flimsy
They changed the thickness of this knife and not worth using for me.

Good quality joint knife.
I bought this jointing knife for those difficult places with narrow space. My old one finally gave up and the handle came apart. This new one is one piece handle, soft rubber feel and good quality stainless steel. Looking forward to trying it out. The only small complaint, not with the knife, but why do they place the large, very sticky price/barcode on the blade face? When using you need a clean metal surface otherwise it ‘drags’ and is a bugger to clean properly. Still not managed to get it all the glue off yet, even using various spirits, washing liquids etc. Really annoying.

Piece of crap.
The quality of the plastering knife is atrocious and I regret buying it.

Made in China
Can’t really comment on the quality because I returned the tool. I only buy USA made Kraft and Marshalltown drywall tools. As always, Amazon was amazing with the return process.
