How to Write About Contemporary Art
B**N
Just what you need to know!
The author writes in conversational yet to-the-point language to explain fully how to write about art. The examples and references to others' writing, correct or incorrect, prove her expertise and research on this subject. Great proof that she knows how to write about contemporary art and uses her methods for a perfectly understandable explanation of how everyone else can do that too. Once you read this book, you feel like you know her like a trusted teacher, colleague, and friend. Or, keep an objective attitude, and you can view it simply as a great instructional, reference book.

Inteligent without being snooty.
Great book on a rather arcane subject. Intelligent, but not snooty. Very helpful. I've written art criticism for more than 50 years, and I sure could have used this many years ago. I'm reading it slowly and surely, not whiz-banging through it. Down to earth inteligent. I discovered it in a local (Dallas,TX) gallery, Ro2, and I sat down and started reading it immediately. Then ordered it that night from Amazon. I read a lot of other books, but I keep going back to this one.

I discovered something nice and deserved.
I am still in the first hour with the book. And English is my second language. But I think it is marvelous.

Tedious reading for journalists and artists
Not motivating and as tedious as most reviews of contempoary art.

if you write about art, this is a MUST HAVE!
If you are an art student or are somehow involved in the art world and plan to do any writing you need to get this book. Williams provides an enormous amount of information in a clear and concise manner. This book is a must-have. Don't even think about it, just buy it, read it and thank me later. It is that important!

A must - should be compulsory in undergrad art school
I picked up this book the first time in Berlin, not long before starting my master where I was actually taught by Williams. Since then I have recommended to many and every single one of them have felt that it was a useful plainly explain how to actionable guide! Strongly recommend. It should be mandatory in art school.

Really top notch
I've read this book from cover to cover. I'm not a writer nor do I have any intention of becoming one. I am an artist who needs to write on my blog and website in order to be a 'findable' needle in the huge haystack that is the internet.I was expecting something highfaluting and full of philosophical and obscure knowledge I had no intention of acquiring. How wrong could I be! Gilda is a master of her craft. Easy and entertaining to digest, I ended-up both in awe and filled with the sense that I have the means to achieve something of what is contained in this gem of a book.
