FANTASTIC for long haired cats, too!!!
I bought to use on the dog, but never got that far because it is fantastic to use on the cat!! Junior is a long haired cat, who is not a youngster anymore, and she has not been grooming herself as much as she used to. As a result of lack of grooming, she began to develop hair lumps (precursor to mats) on her back. I tried grooming her with various brushes and combs, but she hated all of them......until this brush!! For some reason, Junior doesn't mind being groomed with this brush, and it removes piles and piles of hair. She felt better after getting rid of all that excess hair, her mood even improved. I am super happy with this brush!!!

A bit too harsh and seems to “snag”
It’s a nice quality comb, but I find it is a bit abrasive for my cats. I have one long hair and one short hair. While they both don’t mind a traditional brushing, this comb will make them run away and hiss. We have tried all different techniques, and gently combing. But if you are too gentle, nothing comes out... and if you are too dedicated... it seems to hurt them or slightly snag as it works.It does get a lot of undercoat out- but you have to be careful as it could also make them “patchy” if you aren’t watching. Overall, I wanted to like it- but it really does not seem like the kitties like it at all.

This deshedding tool does a good job but it's better for larger dogs than it is for small dogs.
