Lovely Short Book: Perfect for Lead In to Portrait Painting
The author captures the wonderful range of skin tones we all have in an absolutely positive, celebratory and all-inclusive text. The illustrations are cheerful and help extend young readers’ understanding and engagement with the story. This is one of the most helpful books for building positive individual and community feelings about diverse racial (or general) identities I have found. As an art teacher I also appreciate the easy, affirming lead in to our own painting of all the colors of us.

My daughter LOVES this book!
My daughter loves this book! We've read it about a dozen times already in the first few hours of owning it. It's a great way to reinforce to kids that skin colors are all beautiful. It's helped open up conversations about race too. We had a hiccup in our order process and the seller couldn't have been more gracious and nice to deal with. A true five-star experience all around.

Beautiful Story
We loved the illustrations in this book. And all of the descriptions of skin tones! This book has been helpful in building vocabulary for our household to name skin tones by things they resemble (coconut, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc) rather than keeping things literally black and white.

Sweet book!
My 5 year old European American granddaughter loves this book about people of various skin colors. The story is written from the point of view of a little girl who thinks brown is just one color. Her mom shows her all the different shades of brown that her friends come in, including peach (so lighter folks are also included). I like how she compares the colors to flavors like cinnamon, chocolate and peach but I did worry that some people might not like that. Beautiful book in my opinion.

Cute book for young kids
Great book for young kids. My six year old had a lot of questions about why some kids at her school are diffent colors than her. She decided she perfered people who look like her. I bought a few books that talk about how everyone is different and that's okay. This was my favorite. I talks about people who are diffent shades of brown and labels them as things like "peachy tan" "cocoa brown" " chocolate brown" as well as several other browns. It help guide some positive discussion on how we are all different and that is a good thing. She enjoyed the book.

My kid loves it!
I got this book when my child and his friends started using the "peach" crayon as skin color for all their pictures. It was recommended by a teacher. He asks to read it regularly and spends a lot of time looking at all the people in it, and trying to match our hands to the colors on the inside cover art (lots of children's hands, very cute). We have had it for more than a year and it is still in heavy rotation. I also bring it out whenever we meet someone new that looks very different from his other friends, such as his swim teacher or soccer coach, or the kids in his summer camps. So far, he views differences in skin color, languages spoken at home by other children, and all types of names as a regular part of life, which is exactly what I am trying to do with this book. I deducted one star for one very minor detail, that one of the characters is described as a beautiful jewel toned princess instead of a food item like everyone else. I found it awkward and a little off putting to differentiate one character from the rest. It is still my favorite of all the other books about skin tones and differences. I also recommend the "multicultural" or "people colors" packs of crayons and markers, they have been a huge hit at our house.

Artistic picture book, nice message
The illustrations are thoughtful and engaging. I appreciate the author's thorough range of people and use of familiar neighborhood settings. From living in a large multi-cultural neighborhood, my preschooler commented on how amazing it is that there are so many skin colors. I bought this book to continue that conversation. When painting she attempts to recreate the range of colors as described in the book. This book would also be good for kids that don't have a lot of exposure to people who are a different skin color than their own, since it celebrates the bouquet of colors found in our society.

Diversidade racial

Diversity Book
This book is intended for a kindergarten audience to teach the importance of diversity and self-identity and that we must accept each other for who we are and refrain from discrimination on the basis of the colour of our skin.

Wonderful story
This is such a lovely story to introduce the topic of how different we all are. It is a really nice and subtle way to discuss differences in skin tone and to encourage children to think about the differences in shades of skin colours. It is often a subject that children may think about but don't know how to begin to talk about it. The story allows this to be done in a fun way.
