Works perfectly, replaces hard-to-find paper filters for 4 cup
Tried to find this (4 cup) size of coffee filter in an affordable pack of paper filters in two separate supermarkets while shopping. Could not find anything worth the money. Decided to try this filter out, since at the low cost it would be worth it if it worked properly. It works great! The coffee goes out the sides through the mesh of the filter and makes a fine cup of coffee. This will save money in the long run with not having to purchase paper filters.Contrary to another review, I found this filter quick and easy to clean, like in under a minute! Here is how I have found it works well to clean:1. Just tap as much of the used grounds in the filter as you can into the garbage (tap while massaging the outside bottom of the mesh part where the grinds are to loosen the grinds);2. Then wash the filter from the outside in (through the mesh) by rotating as you run it under the faucet, from the bottom to the top;3. Finally, wash the inside of the filter from the plastic bottom up, until the remaining few grinds are washed down the drain in the sink.Main thing is to clean/wash the filter from the bottom up, so the grinds at the bottom will easily be worked up and out.Bottom-line: Not a whole lot to say, well-worth the money at under $6.00 currently!!!

Works Great With the proper grind
Reading most of these reviews many seem to have some good points, so.. hopefully i can sum them all up and include pictures!1) First, for refrence my 4 cup Mr Coffee maker is a Model BL5.2) the Basket i got was 2 in Tall and 3.5in diameter3) you can see in the pictures that the basket DIES have about .25in of space all around it when in use and it uas a sid bottom. This is so the coffee will actually be able to get OUT of the filter. (The paper ones have the folds away from the walls that let the coffee escape) the bottom is likely solid so you get a bit more steep time when brewing since the mesh lets fluid through faster then paper and it give the small filter some rigidity.3) yes.. there is a LITTLE bit of sediments at the bottom. When i first tried this i used the normal grind i would for paper, almost half way between drip and espresso. That grind left a noticeable amount of sludge! So the next time i used the actual Drip setting.. that made the size of the grounds perfect for this and as you can see in the photo there was almost just a smear of particulate in the bottom. I actually didnt even have to TRY to not pour it in my cup because the shape of my carafe stopped it.4) i would NOT use this if you have a blade coffee grinder (and i would upgrade your griner to a mill grinder you own one of those! ;) ) blade grinders do not provide uniform grain size and you WILL get more sediment reguardless of grind just by using that device.5) washing this filter out is very easy, i knock the grings into my compost and then run it under runnin water and it gets 99% of it out in one try. You COULD dunk the filter in water upside down and shake it arround to clean it, but i think that is a waste of water.6) i am actually goin to begin makin my grind smaller so i can replicate the flavor of a french press since i can controll just how much parriculate gets by and see how that goes.So in conclusion, if you grind the right size, this super cheap filter is a great way to go. :)

Love it
The filter fits perfectly in my Mr. Coffee 4-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, DRX5 which I also purchased from Amazon. It filters well without letting ground coffee into my coffee pot, so I'm very pleased with it functionality. I really didn't want the hassle of trying to find small disposable paper filters (as they are scarcely sold in the stores around me) and when I was utilizing a larger coffee pot, I did not find disposable filters more advantageous than the permanent filters. The handle on the permanent filter makes transporting the basket easy, but because the bottom of the basket is plastic, I always end up having to rinse out the rest of the coffee grounds from the bottom of basket - dare I say that I've perfected the rinse-and-flick technique which took me a little while to get used to but I'm overall very happy with it. I don't have a dishwasher, so I'm sure it's fairly easy to clean that way, but I don't have a problem washing it by hand. I prefer using a toothbrush to wash the mesh portion as it makes me uneasy to wash it with just a sponge.

Ok but prefer the paper filters.
I ordered this when I ordered a Mr. Coffee 5 cup coffee maker thinking it would be more convenient while saving a few dollars than using the paper filters. While this cup fits nicely into the coffee maker, I do not find it easier to dispose of the grinds. The grinds stick to the bottom of the basket, which is solid plastic. Therefore, making it necessary to either scoop out with spoon or fingers, or a heavy tap on something, risking damage to the basket. Then having to rinse any remaining grinds out of the basket. Since I sometimes collect the grounds for my plants, I prefer just using the paper filters and simply taking the whole filter with grounds and burrowing the whole thing into the dirt around a plant. The papers are biodegradable so there is no waste.
