Eliminated reflux pain from lying down.
I'm sure personal experience with this product can depend on the severity of one's medical condition, etc... but for me, this wedge has greatly improved my quality of life.I have severe GERD and have been on a daily PPI regimen for years. For a long time, medicine was all that I needed to keep the reflux to a minimum. Unfortunately (for reasons unknown), about 1.5 years ago I experienced an extremely bad flare-up, to the point where I couldn't sleep for several nights in a row due to the pain (sitting up I'm fine; it's just lying down that's the problem). Even after switching prescriptions, severely restricting my diet, etc. nothing was helping. I finally ordered this product due to the mostly positive reviews, and the very first time I slept on it, there was an enormous difference; I could lie down again without the reflux pain.I have been using this product almost every night since I bought it. I did leave it at home on a several-day vacation, which I immediately regretted... lying flat on a hotel bed quickly brought my issues back, and as soon as I came home and used the wedge, I was fine again. So... long story short, it worked wonders for me (though I am still on medication as well). I have also never noticed any odor from the foam, even when it was new. It's been 1.5 years and the foam still seems to be in good shape as well... no noticeable indentations, etc.The only "cons" I can think of:- You do need a little time to get used to sleeping on it. I sleep mostly on my side, and I've been able to make that work. I also sleep on my back occasionally and that's probably what the wedge was really intended for. I simply keep the wedge sitting on top of the fitted sheet in bed, and lie directly on top of it with a pillow as one normally would sleep.- If you share a bed with someone, they may have to get used to it too. My partner certainly has enough room (queen bed), but he said it was odd at first to have the "wall" of the wedge on one side of him.- It's not aesthetically pleasing at all; we just usually leave it in the bed and "make" the bed over it (which looks odd), but it would also be annoying to put away and take out every day/night.

Good, Could Be Better
I purchased this not because of acid reflux but because of allergies and the help a wedge pillow would be for my sinus problems at night (as in breathing!). It IS helpful. I do breathe better. But if you are a six foot or taller person, know that the pillow is a bit short. I've been in touch with MedSlant and they don't seem to care. But if you are tall, the thin portion of the pillow really needs to be another three to four inches long (maybe it should come in two sizes?). If it were a bit longer the pillow would be great. As it is, it's good.Given the price, you'd think they wouldn't begrude the little amount of additional foam and the few extra inches. A pity. Perhaps if one didn't use an additional pillow (as pictured in the Medslant ad) the pillow would be long enough. But the MedSlant pillow is quite firm. If you want any give, you'll want to use your own top pillow.Meanwhile, some have noted problems with the width of the pillow. I haven't had any problems here. It's not generous, but it appears to be wide enough.Bottom line, if your sinuses tend to clog when you lie down, and you have borderline "sleep apnea" problems, this pillow MAY help enough so you won't need to use a machine (as I recall they called it a C-pap or something similar)to get air. But the skimping on the lenth of the pillow keeps me from a glowing report. Still, it IS longer than the other pillows now available.Lastly, if you buy the pillow be prepared for Amazon to assume you have acid reflux and start bombarding you with "deals" on books about it.

Great Product
I think this is a very nice product. Not many wedges on the market that are truly long enough to help with GERD. They really need to be 30 inches long so that they reach the hips, not just propping up head and shoulders which would put pressure on the stomach, which you DO NOT want if you have GERD. I wish it had some kind of built in pillow, or way to attatch a pillow to it, but you can't have everything. I use a memory foam pillow with it and it works very nicely, except my pillow and I tend to slide down some nights. That said, all the wedges on the market are overpriced, this one included. But if you have GERD and are desperate for relief, you will pay it. I'm happy that I did.I have GERD and Obstructive Sleep Apnea and this wedge helps me sleep better with my cpap machine. I'm 35, female and not obese, by the way. Anyone can have apnea, not just fat people. So, if you snore, have symptoms of depression, and are excessively fatigued, talk to your doctor about getting a sleep study! GERD is strongly associated with sleep apnea, as is high blood pressure, diabetes, heart conditions and strokes. Don't put it off, cpap treatment could save your life.

Too short and steep
This product is OK. My husband does not want the whole bed angled up. I bought this one because it was longer than some others for sale. You do tend to slide down it at night. I'm a side and stomach sleeper and can't get comfy with this laying on my side or my stomach. My hips naturally want to be at the end where the pillow meets the bed and it kind of causes my lower back to hurt.I'm pretty sure this is the best option out there, but I'm looking into getting a custom one made that is longer, so my hips don't bend at the bed-pillow-line and one with a hole so that when I lay on my stomach my head can go into the hole like on a massage table. Otherwise, you head cranes up at a big angle and makes your neck hurt.
