Ronlap Workbench Casters Wheels Kit Retractable Casters Set of 4, 880Lbs

Everything in my workshop except my lathe, is on casters, that includes my Milling Machine. My 44"x80" bench is now that last piece of equipment to has the ability to roll into a new position if needed. I designed and built my workbench in my shop while working on a Star Trek the Next Generation so it can travel to the next location or job site with ease. The bench was always intended to have some sort of caster system but not one where it rested on the wheels all the time. The selection of this casters system was specific to the weight the bench carries (ie; Oak machinist tool chest at 300lbs, surface plate at 60lbs, bend/brake at 60lbs, lower self storage at 200lbs, the bench itself at 80lbs and whatever tooling or work that is on the bench at the time). According to the specifications of the casters, I am at the casters limit, yet when I engage them and roll the bench about the shop, it floats like a breeze. The assembly and installation was super simple but I "did not" use the supplied screws to mount the caster plates to the bench legs. Instead I drilled the legs and used 2 1/2" 1/4-20 bolts with lock nuts to secure the caster plate to the legs. Wood screws always give out eventually, so with the weight of the bench and the load it carries the last thing I would want is a caster to give way while it is moving. The supplied hole pattern guide was very helpful to make a jig for drilling the holes through the leg, so if one uses the supplied screws, the guide is super handy to set the height of the screw pattern every time. The best thing to remember when installing this system is to install the main plate first, then the hinge pieces with the wheels. If you are disabled like I am and are going to use the 24 bolts rather than screws, the best way to install is the assemble the plate to the hinge pieces, mount to the legs of the bench and install the wheels last. Another small tip is to use "CAR WAX" in the areas where the hinge arm meets the caster swing arm to reduce friction. It makes engaging and then retracting the casters much easier. For the fantastic price, and the good construction of this caster system, I was extremely impressed with the quality, easy of installation and the tooling supplied to help attach the actual caster to the swing arm. If you have a bench that you need a caster system for, this is the choice to make.... period. Note: Once the casters are installed and engaged, be sure to check the stability of your bench legs. If a bench leg or legs seem to wiggle/sway where it meet the bench top as it moves, you need to brace the legs with an angle bracket of some sort as I did to avoid the legs collapsing.

Follow the instructions for measurements, I think it's important for fit and performance. I built a stand for my motorcycle to ramp it up a foot higher for maintenance. Works great but it's in the way sometimes. I installed these on all 4 corners and now it's dead solid when they're "up" and it's simple to stomp them down, even with the bike on the rack (probably 600 lbs total), and they pivot/roll super smooth so I can push the whole assembly up against the wall and use my whole garage now. I have had work benches in past garages I struggled to drag around, wish I had found these earlier, would have installed them on all my benches. They do stick out a few inches, so for a bench I'd install them on the inside of the legs, still easy to get to, but less of a trip hazard. for my bike stand I put them on the outside, to add width for stability. Great design, great quality, great instructions, easy install. Buy with confidence.

Excellent! Works perfectly. I am impressed with the construction, very well made. It comes with a template for easy hole drilling and insulation. Be careful with the instructions. The picture in step two will have you installing the wheel mounting plate upside down. I put them on my table saw stand.

These work well for making my workbench moveable. The kit came with simple wrenches for the bolts and a template to help with positioning. The wrenches are probably intended for one time use, but they worked for assembling the wheels. You just need to provide a Phillips screw-driver and a drill. The wheels lower easily with a foot press. Retracting the wheels under load is slightly tricky. It helps to lift the workbench a bit to take some weight off. Might be an issue if you are operating at max load. For my work bench (which is maybe few hundred pounds) they work great. Am I very satisfied and would purchase them again.

Extremely well made. Included all tools necessary for installation (minus a drill for whatever material you're screwing these into). Casters roll very smoothly over even mildly bumpy surfaces. Feel very high quality and durable, I have no doubts about them holding up over time. The included template for your drilling position so you know exactly where to place the casters was a significant quality of life improvement.

I read the reviews and changed the mounting screws to #10 Simpson Lags I had on hand. I mounted them inboard, on a radial arm saw stand, as a test to see if I could save the outboard sides for tight storage space (I slide some folding tables next to the saw when not in use) They work well inboard so I am going to leave them. Also I know I can loan the saw to my next door neighbor and it will easily roll from my garage to his. Easy assembly and installation. It’s not rocket science. The only issue I have had is occasionally when I release the wheels to work one may be turned facing the table leg which will elevate the table slightly. This is a simple visual inspection and if I see the wheel turned in facing the leg I simply reach down and rotate it by hand. I could also pay more attention to wheel alignment before releasing the pedal lock. Absolutely a great value for the money and will be installing a set on my work bench.

Product came with a template and made these very easy to install. I drilled pilot holes and had no trouble with the screws at all. They lock into place easily and move around smooth and easy. The brackets are heavy and seem to be well made. Considering the price, I was pleasantly surprised.

I made a heavy tabletop to hold a bench top drill press and oscillating sander and these Ronlap casters are perfect for use in my shop. These casters have a nice simple design, were easy to install, and have thick steel mounts. Should be plenty sturdy enough for my purposes. They came with an installation template and a pair of wrenches to install the wheels. These items made it super easy to install at the correct height. I deducted one star because the supplied screws were low quality and stripped easily. I had to be really careful with the screws to get them to work without stripping. Not uncommon to get cheap low quality fasteners with products these days, but I wish the vendors would take note and improve on the screws supplied. Overall they appear to be good quality casters for a workbench, I'd buy again, and if they included better quality screws I would give them 5 stars!
