Q: Is this a good product to make my perm less frizzy and add volume without the crunch?

Its a heat activated spray so if you mean to use it before doing your curles it will work. I personally use it for when i curl my hair with an iron and it makes it last for days without giving me that crunchy sensation you're referring to. The instructions do say to use it with wet or damped hair not on dry hair (I don't know if that affects you in any way). It does help with the frizz too. I love it and do recommend it just take in account that its not your regular hair spray that you can use on dry hair. Its more of a prepping spray to use before you style your hair. But it works wonders. I love it

Q: You have to apply heat for this product to work??

since it has to be applied on damped hair it works best with heat. However i have dried my hair with the coolest option of my hair dryer and it seems to work for me. I would say it works best with heat but you don't need a drastic temperature for it to work. I really love the results. hope you like it to : )

My hair is dry too. I only lightly rinse out conditioner. I apply the spray to wet hair and semi-dry with the hair dryer. I have also let it air dry. I like this product. It does not leave a stiff residue and I think it helps my hair keep curl.
