Brilliant as the Sun: A retelling of Srimad Bhagavatam: Canto Four: Krishna Fulfils All Desires

I cannot recommend this series of books highly enough. The retelling in novel-form of Srimad Bhagavatam (the cream of the cream of Vedic literature, as far as the bhakti component of self realization instructs). The original 'academic' format of the scripture (pub. BBT Books) goes a lot deeper in its teachings, but Krishna Dharma and Cintamani Dhama Dasi make it accessible for beginners, and provide the reader a great overview from which to begin study. It certainly doesn't dumb-down the philosophy, but has explained aspects (like the schools of Eastern thought) which I hadn't understood previously. And, although obviously abridged, the essence is scrupulously maintained. Also comes with handy appendices.

A well written and easily understandable retelling of one of the greatest literary text ever written. Krishna Dharma and his wife Cintamani Dharma Dasi have used their extensive understanding of this great spiritual text , achieved through daily living and imbibing the teachings of the great Vedic literatures, to simplify the narrative without losing the essence of these great spiritual works. First class.
