Nick (Alessandro Nivola from Face/Off), broke and desperate to get out of his suffocating small town, agrees to take part in a drug heist. When his partners get caught, he has less than a week to come up with $15,000 or suffer the consequences. When his college buddy Brice (Josh Brolin--Flirting with Disaster) comes back to town, Nick and his girlfriend Lissa (Reese Witherspoon) hatch a plan to bilk Brice out of a rare collectible. Of course, things go wrong--which is where things get entertaining. The plot could use a few more twists to really crackle, but the surprises it does have work, and the ending is both clever and affecting. Along the way, the best scene features a drug dealer who quotes economic theory from the bible of capitalism, The Wealth of Nations. In the past few years, Witherspoon has turned in superb performances in such varied movies as Freeway, Pleasantville, and especially Election; Best Laid Plans doesn't make much use of her talent, but she's always watchable. --Bret Fetzer

Great British home renovation show 👍
What I love most about this show is that: 1) 2 successful designers, who advise lay homeowners on their house renovation plans, are really great designers as a person and as a professional. The design ideas to change homeowners' original plan which these talented designers came up with were brilliant; and 2) Both designers (young British blonde lady + middle-aged British designer) are very nice people whom I bet anyone who come across with would vouch, being "truly" humble, meek, sweet, and gentle . . . Lastly, don't you love British people, who talk and walk elegantly and also are very soft-spoken. This is currently my go-to tv show before sleep because this show is so soothing and calms my nerves. Every night, I fall asleep quickly in the middle of the episode.

Blu ray quality just rocks and the story is there
What I love about this is the Quality that Blu ray gives us, this Movie on a regular dvd is so much darker looking. With this blu ray it really pops and is so much more defined.You see far better and its so crisp. The sound is also far better as this is what blu ray gives us. I liked the story very much as it is different from so many of the Hollywood story lines. I also Loved the fact that you see Reese younger as she was coming up and in a different type of character that shows you just how great of an actress she truly is and why she became such a big star. I just love Reese's work and she was very good in this as well. The performances are there, the whole cast does a great job, the writing is fine, the plot is solid and the story moves along.Reese Witherspoon, Alessandro Nivola, Josh Brolin,Rocky Carroll,Terrence Howard,Rebecca Klingler, Mike Hagerty all faces and actors and actresses you will know and all when they were a little younger and very little known. I Highly recommend this to all and with Blu ray you will see it in a very clear way Plus you will see a young NCIS director Vance ( Rocky Carroll) who does a nice job. There are NO EXTRAS in this DVD it's just the movie with chapter search

Insanely boring, and I don't know how it is billed as a thriller. Not one scary part or even a "jump"scene. Felt like a no name B movie.

The film is great but I failed to notice that this is region 1 only, and Amazon didn't give me any sort of warning, so I've been completely unable to watch it despite having paid for the blu-ray disc.

solid movie with lots of twists.
this really is a gem of a film. it takes about 15 mins to get in to it, and then it hooks you in with a twist you don't see coming. it then takes you back to the moments leading up to this point. it's a well thought out film and the economic ramblings of a juicebox drinking drug dealer epitomise this. there are several twists and turns throughout with some solid acting performances from brolin and nivola. witherspoon is okay in her role, but the role itself is a little weak at times. although this reaches nowhere near the echelons that 'the game' and other films in the thriller genre reach, this is still a wothwhile watch that will keep you guessing.
