My 87 yr old father fell in May, June and July and broke his left hip 3 times. The Friday before Thanksgiving he fell and broke his right hip. I ordered these hip pads and wondered if he would wear them. The answer is yes! He wears them daily and they make him feel more secure. Note* I think they run a little small, ordered the small the first time and it was too small, returned the small and ordered the larger size and it works great. Hopefully he won’t fall again, if he does, I hope these protect his hip from being broken or fractured.

I like this product because it's easy to put on when I go out to walk my Aussie-mix dog. I am wearing it as a precaution after being told that I have significant osteoporosis. It's well-made and comfortable. I haven't fallen while wearing it so am unable to say for sure that it would prevent a fracture but it gives me peace of mind that I am doing every thing I can do to still enjoy walking my dog.

To give protection for hips in case of a fall

This protective hip protector is wonderful for older people like me. I have thinning bones and my balance is not what it used to be. I put this on whenever I step on a ladder. I wore it constantly when I went out this past winter. Anything that can minimize the chances of a hip fracture is well worth the investment.

The sizing sucks, a folded towel will do better. Don’t waste your money.

I ordered this for my 88-year-old mother who is recovering from hip replacement. I measured her hips at 41", and ordered the medium but it's too small. She weighs 130 lbs. Now Amazon is doing a weird replacement thing and another medium is coming but that was probably my error. Ugh. I hope a large works. Other than this issue, the item seems good. We showed it to my mom's physical therapist and she liked it.

I am size L or XL, weighing about 145 lbs. The XL fits well. The padding is firm and feels like it would work. I suspect someone looking at it would think I am wearing a back brace with filled pockets. I chose this one after reading a review in a medical journal which compared several hip pads, using equipment to test impact etc. This one had the highest rating. Not a guarantee but improves the odds significantly.What inspired me to start wearing this was that my poor father never recovered from a hip fracture, both physically and mentally. (Apparently hip fractures often result in strokes which bring on dementia.) He never left the nursing home, spending his last months disabled and with some signs of dementia.

I PUT THIS ON IMMEDIATELY WHEN I GOT IT AND IT IS SUPER COMFORTABLE AND I WILL BE WEARING IT MOST OF THE TIME AS A SAFE GUARD TO INJURIES FROM FALLING.
