I tested the mat and it does prevent marring a hardwood floor. As a bonus, having the throw line marked is great. If truth be told, I would have paid more for a mat twice as wide to further protect the floor from errant darts bouncing off the board. But, I'm happy with the product, nonetheless.

Arrived with 2 pieces ripped. Color on lines are not uniform. Not worth the price.
