I got this free as a promotion -- I think the seller realizes, quite correctly, that it is probably nearly IMPOSSIBLE to crack the top 10, let alone top 2 sellers on Amazon without some marketing.In today's day and age, that pretty much means giving away free stuff. I mean, who watches commercials any more? so it goes..Anyway, You can see by my other reviews that I'm an honest reviewer.This is my first 'freebie' review - I hope I get more of these!My reviews are not based on freeness...so we'll see.In any case, this is DEFINTELY a 5 star product/deal.The spring-loaded measurer is KEY for an accurate belly measurement - you pull it around yourself, insrt the beginning tip of the tape into the plastic home base. DON'T press the button. pull tip back out, look at the number. That's your waistline.Don't faint. We'll get through this together; there are some GREAT exercise videos on youtube.Anyway, press the button, the thing retracts.I LOVE that the spring loaded retraction is not forceful -- I HATE getting my finger snapped, etc.This one pulls the tape back perfectly well, but not super-forcefully /irritating. Good job.Like many of these devices, the measurement number on the tape expertly takes into account the part that isn't measure by the plastic.In simple terms, if you wrapped this thing around a 42" belly, the tape would read 42" (of course). 2" of that amount would be the part of the plastic housing that is touching your belly, 40" would be the part of the tape also encircling your belly. (so...fwiw, the part of tape that is pulled out is 40" long, but add the 2" of plastic housing, and you have a 42" belly. And what is written on the tape, that you can see? 42". Perfect).BTW, the numbers are large and easy to read. great.This item ALSO includes a seamstresses tape. What a cool bonus.And all for $4.99 plus tax? Amazing. This is a perfect product and a great deal.I'd have rated it 5stars at any price.At this price...can I mark 6 stars?

I've had this handy little device for a little over two weeks and decided to take advantage of using it during our stay at home orders from Covid-19. The first night I opened it I measured both arms, upper legs/thighs and around my stomach. I began an exercise routine using only resistance bands and sit-ups for 16 nights in a row and jotted down the measurements. I was floored that in just a little over two weeks, I toned up my muscles by 1/4" to 1/2" in all areas mentioned! If I didn't actually measure them with this device, I don't know if I would've even noticed the difference, so I was thrilled with that.The handheld device is so convenient and has a locking mechanism so that you can accurately measure all areas with ease. You simply pull the tape measure out and lock it into the notch and take your measurement, and when you're finished, you press the button and the tape automatically retracts. The black numbers are so easy to read with inches on one side and centimeters on the other. This particular brand comes with an additional tape measure for a variety of other uses around the house. The spare tape measure also comes with a handy storage case. I invited my friend to do the exercise routine along with me and found it so convenient to pop in my bag to bring with me and take her measurements as well.When I looked over all the different measuring devices, I looked for ease of use, accuracy and price and this one is has a 5-star rating in all three categories and is an excellent value. I can't think of any cons relating to this particular brand and I would recommend it to friends and others as a great motivator for toning up.

Wow, cool gadget for measuring body inches to determine if your weight lifting and diet are helping! You pull out the measuring tape, wrap it around your body part, and then insert the end of it into the other side of the case. When you push the little button on the case, it tightens up on the skin. Then you pull the end back out and you can easily see the measurement. It is especially convenient when you're measuring something like your arm when you don't have two hands to wrap around. You can actually pull the measuring tape out and insert end into the case making an arm sized loop before you put it around your arm.I would give it a 5-star review except that it would be nice if the retracting spring were a little stronger- quicker and tighter. But it works pretty well, all the same.

I don’t like how the measurements are always higher than i want but that’s my fault, not the device’s.I like it, it’s very helpful for taking your own measurements.

I love the size of the item, it fits well inside of my jewelry box, and I use it quite often. It is made well, the numbers are easy to read, and it retracts well.

Measuring things with a cloth tape measure has become difficult for me. I needed to take various body measurements and there was simply no way I could do it with a traditional tape measure without assistance. Browsing Amazon I found this product and it was inexpensive and even came with a second traditional tape measure. I really didn’t expect much in terms of quality. Happily, I was surprised. The quality is higher than I expected. One end of the tape fits into a slot and then you push a button to retract it. The housing itself takes up two inches and is clearly printed on the case body. I think a person with full finger dexterity could use the device handily. I have to form a loop with the tape, fasten the end into the slot, pass the loop over the body part I want to measure and then click the button to retract the tape. My concern is that the retracting button won’t last long. I have nothing to support that claim, just an impression from the overall quality of construction. I think it will do well for the short term, but won’t last. But the unit is so useful for me and so inexpensive, I will accept a short working life and by another if and when it gives out. In my opinion, an excellent value.Jerry
