Yes! However, please note your NEO's Flow Control Portafilter already works to ensure the proper time and pressure is achieved, so it isn't quite necessary: We instead recommend use of the PGK with our non-pressurized portafilter, the Bottomless 2-in-1 (which is also compatible with your NEO!).

The gauge seems to increase the chance of brew-head separation during extraction (cylinder sliding up). Any way to avoid or minimize this?

I dont know the answer. I do know I have never had a separation problem with the gage as you suggest. Eventually I stopped using gage because it seemed to be not needed.

Does this come with the silicone guard for the gauge like on the Flair site?

What you get is what is pictured: the gauge body and the metal disk, both with their respective silicone rings.
