fascinating book for myself personally...I was born in SF at a time when Alcatraz was still a prison and recall the many headlines in the news about the island I also years later took a tour after years of viewing from a distance the island as a legendary landmark that was exciting .....the book really hit home and was very entertaining

This book was for my own use. It is full of facts and stories about Alcatraz.

Fun book to read. I got this for my 10 year niece, who is just getting into hearing about haunted places, and this was the perfect book for her. I even read it after and found it interesting.

Collect ghost stories. This one about Alcatraz is a great add to my collection.

Had the opportunity to meet Bob Davis and Brian Clune at an event...Great guys and I asked them about the research on this book and found they gathered most of thier information from the Alcatraz archives on many things including the breakouts! Bought my copy right then and there and got it signed...have purchased many from thier catalog. Thank you!!!

I've read 6 or 7 Haunted America books and their quality is very uneven. Some are fantastic. Others not so great. . . This is the best one I've come across so far. The writing is clear and engaging. Best of all, there's a wonderful mix of history and the paranormal. Readers will learn a lot about Alcatraz itself as well as its ghostly inhabitants. The hauntings are described in some detail and are highly believable. A few are downright creepy. Reading the book made me: 1) interested in visiting Alcatraz, and 2) wanting to learn more about its history. Highly recommended!

My 14-year-old daughter loved it! And she 'made' me take her back to the island again!

There are some good ghost story’s in this book but it’s a shame the author gets so many things wrong about the breakout section, they seem to have mixed too many tales from movies in with the history. Apart from that it’s an ok read.
