Horrifically Brilliant
Yet another Ray Paterson & Johnny Clocks book from Steve Parker, and this one was probably one of the best. Yes, it was extremely gory and terrifying in places, and no Johnny Clocks does not get any better (will he ever), and yes Ray Paterson is still as determined as ever to do things his way and manages to get away with it (eventually). However, this was a totally engrossing read which was impossible to put down, making me turn each page to find out what was going to happen next. The story of a killer who takes pleasure in skinning the victims and making objects out of their skin, the chase to try and find and catch him, the ongoing investigation into the killing of DCI Lambert from the previous book, and the hatred that the Chief Constable has for both Paterson and Clocks, make this a truly deep and engrossing novel. As annoying as Johnny Clocks is, you must admire his sense of humour – which is obviously his coping mechanism for the often-horrendous job he has chosen. He and Ray work well together and there is certainly never a dull moment from those two. Sadly, we do lose a few characters in the race to catch the killer, and clearly there will be a long psychological recovery for all those involved. The ending was fast paced and quite disturbing in places, but we get there in the end and the conclusion is satisfying, if not a little upsetting. But at the very end there is a huge teaser as to the direction in which the next episode will be heading and this is a book that I am eagerly looking forward to.This read was a brilliant way to end this dreadful year and I am so pleased I embarked on the journey.

Very Good Crime Novel
I have just completed this latest novel by the author and although it was very good, I did not think it was not quite as good as the first five in the series. The author is excellent in the way he portrays the two unlikely characters in Clocks and Paterson who are the main characters in all the books. They are as different as chalk and cheese but they really do keep you wondering just what they might do next. As for the, some might say twisted humour, well that is superb. It had me in hysterics. The storylines although a little far fetched are very well written and his portrayal of life in the police force, well that is something left to your own imagination. The first book in the series took a few pages to get into and then you are hooked. I read all five before this latest one. The books are quite graphic as it has moved on from the days of Dixon of Dock Green. If you have a good imagination, not easily offended and like good crime stories, then these books are a must. But do start from the first in the series and you will not be disappointed.

Child Behind The Wall (Detective Ray Paterson Crime Thrillers Book 6)
This book had so much going on, There were so many twists and turns, it seemed impossible to believe anyone could be so badly damaged. Overall it was a superb read, so well written and leaving with a message that would lead to the next book. I just have to read it next. Thank you your writing Steve Parker x

Another excellent book in the series
This is Book 6 in the Paterson Clocks series and just as good as the previous five. Added to the horrible crimes committed there are elements of humour in this one that actually made me laugh out loud but towards the end there is an element of brutality that made me really feel for the characters. Steve Parker has the extraordinary talent of drawing in the reader making you feel as though you are actually part of the story. The book ends but the story doesn’t so I’m now starting to read the next in the series. Sadly as I review this it’s the last buggy I’m hoping there will be more. I would recommend reading the series in order, it will make much more sense of these two brilliant main characters, their work and private lives.

Good story line, but not my kind of book
This book was ok, the detectives remind me of something from the sweeny (shows how old i am) very gruesome and rough. Not a bad story line though. Not my kind of book but others my enjoy it.

First time reading...
This is the first book I have read by Steve Parker - it certainly wont be the last! From start to the very last page there are twists and turns, some predictable, some unexpected.Very gritty and fast paced, each chapter having it's own 'cliff hanger' style ending. I certainly lost sleep over his one, couldn't put it down. When I did, I wanted to know what happened next.I'm now a massive fan of Clocksy and Patison!A great read, if you like suspense, hard-core action and more twists and turns than a theme park, this is certainly for you.Great job, I will certainly be reading more from this Author in the near future!Wish I could give it more stars, 5 isn't enough.

Another Good One - Very Emotional In Places Along With A Lot Of X Certificate Stuff In Other Places
Another good one. This is an emotional ride and mixed in with it, is some gory stuff. That is extremely horrific. The police get called out to a house. What they experience and what they find is carnage. This is only the tip of the iceberg. That Detective Superintendent Ray Paterson and his trusted partner Detective Inspector John Clocks have to deal with.Has there been anything proven to link this mixture of smoothness in the shape of Paterson and the blunt rough edges of Clocks with the shots that wounded DCI Lambert? That incident closed their previous outing in the excellent Their Dying Breath. As these stories have developed. Paterson’s attitude has become more like Clocks. Then again, if you are going to catch villains. You have to think like them.Obnoxious is probably the best word to describe John Clocks. Timex or Clocksy as he is sometimes called.

Bloody Hell!
I read this book in one sitting. I even quit the book I was currently reading to start CBTW. It was totally worth it. Talk about an adrenaline ride! And the end? GRRRR!!!And, fair warning: This book does contain gruesome crime scenes. Feel free to skim over them if you are squeamish. But, don't quit reading just because of the crime scenes. You'll miss out on such great characters and camaraderie.Thank you, Mr. Parker's Pen, for writing such great characters. <3

Good, but....
I have read the Paterson and Clocks books and enjoyed them, even if a little over the top sometimes, but must admit have a problem with excessive swearing. This would put some people off to the extent that they may only ever read one and not even finish that one. Shame.

Great book
This is the first book that I have read of this series and loved it so much I will now read all the others.A great pairing if two unreal types of policemen. They want justice and will do what needs to be done to get it.Clever characterisation of all involved in the storyline. Can't wait to read more of these books
