Really good waterproof solderless connectors
The media could not be loaded. I have wanted to try these for a while but always been a bit reluctant having done electronic bits since school and was thought the old school way of solder and a steady hand. But these are actually very good and make such quick work. The kit comes with everything you need, first a nice strong but very small storage box to keep them all organised in with nice little clips to open it.Next you open it and see you have 4 sizes of connector and a decent amount of each one, plus you get the flux you need as well.So i grabbed a small piece of red cable and stripped the ends of as usual, gave them a quick dip in the flux and put them both in the connector, then applied head for about 30seconds until i could see the heat shrink closing up nicely, once that was done there was still a bit of movement in the cables so i was a little concerned but once i had let it cool down they were good and pretty solid. as you can see from picture 4 not bad for a first effort.I tried to video it with my phone balance on the chair arm and over a box to show you the process, excuse my camera skills its hard to do when you really need 4 hands lol.So Overall i actually am impressed with them and really like them, currently at £13.89 its not a bad price for them and most sets dont come with flux so it was nice to have everything you need.I recommend them and they will do basic jobs but i dont think they will do every soldering job so bare that in mind.

Heat Shrink Wire Connectors With Solder
Totally delighted with these connectors as up until I received this kit I had been wrapping my wire ends around one another then soldering both wires together, then pulling over the shrink tubing and apply heat to finish the task. However, with this 140 piece kit, containing 4 different colour coded gauges of connector and a small container of flux, all I needed to complete the entire process was a hot air gun. For those without a gun, a lighter will work, but for optimum butting and weatherproofing, hot air is best.Don’t let your hot air gun get too hot for this job as the collar of solder is designed to melt at 150 degrees C and the plastic sleeve at only 80 degrees C.It’s a simple process that achieves great results; just dip both wires into the flux, then twist the wires of each end around one another and pull the connector over, until the ring of solder is in the middle of the join. Then apply the hot air gun and if you watch you’ll see the solder melt through the wires creating, along with the shrinking plastic sleeve, a perfect, safe and waterproof join. This will be a great kit for me, as I’ll be using it to extend the electric cords to some of my power tools.I would recommend this product.

Takes a few goes to work out the best way to use
I will admit that I am poor at soldering and when connecting two cables together, I almost always forget to put a heat shrink on first. These solder wire connectors are the ideal solution as they combine the heat-shrink with a ring of solder. In the box you get 4 different sizes of heat-shrink with a total of 140 along with a small tub of flux. Each heat-shrink has a coloured glue section on each end and the solder ring in the middle, all surrounded by a clear piece of heat-shrink. To use you strip the cable, dip the end in the flush and then connect with the heat-shrink. After you need to heat it up to around 80c to melt the glue on each end and to 150c to melt the solder and shrink the tube. In my experience you need to get the temperature hotter than this and the tube does not appear to shrink much at all. The glue does and seals well. The downside to them is that to get a water tight seal and also an electrically secure seal can take some practice. I went through 4 to get a good connection. The first I overheated and the solder managed to escape through the glue, others were too secure but not electrically secure. I also noticed, as mentioned above, that the heat-shrink did not shrink to half its size as suggested. This may have been due to me using the smallest tube but it was a disappointment.

Great selection and very useful
We are renovating an old house and are now at the wiring stage so this box of heat shrink connectors are coming in very useful. Although we are maintaining the old look of the house, the wiring is going to power a lot of modern designed AI stuff so we have been very busy. The set comes complete with 4 types of connectors and a small amount of flux. I didn't have a clue what that was but my OH did.He said the tip to getting these on just right is going in easy with the heat and not too close. The two parts of the connector need different heats and can easily be spoiled. He seems to know what he's doing anywayAll in a good and useful set I'm told.Good value and Recommended
