For it's size this thing really puts it out. Hard to beat for $65

I don't write reviews often, but I have to share how impressed I am with these Skar EVL-65 D4 subwoofers. I purchased two of them and installed them in the rear doors of my 3rd gen Toyota Tacoma access cab. These fit perfectly when combined with the Taco Tunes heavy duty speaker adapter kit. On the access cabs, the rear door is divided down the middle - separating the speaker cavity from the seatbelt assembly beside it. With that in mind and by very rough estimations, the cavity of the door is roughly 0.6 cubic feet which provides a nice starting point for a ported enclosure. I only applied enough sound deadening to stop some rattles and hollowness, but did as much on the exterior door skin as I could. Right now it's running as pictured, but I've done some box modelling based on ~0.6 cu. ft. and may try to remove the large access panel in the bottom of the door to place an appropriately sized port in it's location. I'll update this review if I do it with the results. Enough about how well this works in the rear door of a Tacoma... So I've got two of these, wired to 1ohm, on a tiny Skar SK-M5001D 500W RMS amp. It's technically a little more than they are rated for each, but they're 3ft away from our heads and only need to fill a small truck cab, so the gain isn't turned up very high. I have a subsonic filter set around 30Hz, and a LPF at around 100Hz. This is not a SQL or SPL setup, I just wanted a fuller bottom end and these over delivered! I had far lower expectations than what I wound up with. They have great extension, sound good, and have been taking the little abuse I give them very well. If you have a truck with a smaller door cavity, can fit this speaker depth, and don't want to give up any cab space... I would recommend giving it a try. There are a number of YouTube videos of them in a properly spec'd enclosure really hitting hard too, so if you want some big bass in a small enclosure these may it the bill.

These speakers are amazing. The dual subwoofers in my factory Delco-Monsoon system on my 2002 Trans Am were blown, and I needed a reliable replacement. After finding these speakers recommended in a forum, I installed them tonight—and I was genuinely impressed. They not only solved the issue, but also exceeded the original sound quality. The system sounds better than ever.

Used in my gx470 as a replacement for the OEM ML subwoofer. It sounds much better than a blown out oem paper subwoofer, but I didn’t like how it sounded with the bass eq turned up. But what do you expect from a a tiny sub in an undersized oem enclosure powered by the oem amp. I ended up buying a lc2i and seperate amp to see if it would sound any better, but by then I figured I might as well just get a seperate subwoofer and enclosure and leave this one in the car in case I ever need the cargo space. So I have no idea if the sub sounds any better with a proper amp, but I’d assume it would.

Great value for your money and is definitely loud and hits pretty good . Used it to replace a stock subwoofer on a truck cause it’s about the same amperage and it definitely hit harder than the stock and looked great

I love this little thing. Stuck it in a sixth order, fed it about 300 watts and have been having fun with it. A sub this small allows me to keep trying different box designs without eating up much money. This thing digs down deep in the right box. I've gotten impressive output at 26Hz with my current setup. As a bit of a basshead I find it fun, and surprisingly powerful. The best thing about it is just the quality of sound I'm getting with a very small footprint in my car, and very low power. It pairs with my more SQ oriented front stage setup, and with a little Time Alignment and EQ work, I've been able to get the sound dialed in perfectly for when I want to LISTEN to music, not just PLAY it. The downside is the small size of the driver limits the voice coil size and suspension strength, as well as the motor size. Though impressive for it's size, I think I'd be happier with the output if I would have picked up an 8, but that's just the basshead in me talking. On just 300ish watts, I've heard the voice coil bottom out on the backside of the motor. Furthermore, the flat blade terminals leave a lot to be desired, they make wiring a little bit annoying as the area is a little bit cluttered. I'd love to see spring or screw terminals. I ended up soldering tails onto them. Overall I have to say that this little sub is perfect for an inexpensive upgrade to your sound system if you are just looking to enjoy your music with a little more bass. The simplest thing you can do to wake up your vehicles stereo system is, surprisingly, to bypass your factory amp and put your factory speakers on an aftermarket amp, and adding a small bass setup. You'd be surprised at how good the speakers in your car are, and how bad the factory amp is. There are some good options for all in one DSP and amplifier setups that are affordable. Tack on a small bass setup like this, and you can have an amazing upgrade for less than 500.

Used this to replace the blown subwoofer in a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 sound system. I'm still in the process of breaking in this new speaker, but from what I hear already, this makes the sub sound better than what Klipsch made it originally — much better sounding deep bass. I've one more copy of fully functional ProMedia 2.1, and I'm seriously considering swapping the sub on it with this as well! For those of who you'll be attempting this swap, remember that the speaker connectors on this are of different size than what the stock Klipsch speaker used, so be prepared to order a set of connectors to modify the original wire (or just solder the wire). This speaker is also a dual-connector 4 ohm one so connect the leads in serial (connect one set of + and - using a wire directly), and then use the remaining + and - for the original Klipsch amp's connectors. Other than that a snug drop in replacement. You'll need to ditch the original metal grill afterwards. See the attached photo for the installed version.

Line the interior with 2 cm thick, pyramid-shaped open-cell acoustic foam, ensuring the entire inner surface area of ​​the wooden enclosure is covered.

Definitely will be buying again for my small car audio installation. Have two of them in my truck running 1.21 cubic feet ported box and they shake like a 10! Have had drinks spilled on them, a cone crushed in, and they still work and sound amazing EDIT, after 8 months of abuse, I’ve blown them. Done very well for a teenager that abused the hell out of them.
