Great for the sun, lightweight
I work with children at a school campus and spend half my day under the california sun running around with kids. We don't have any shade structures so there is no where to hide from the sun and I needed something to block the sun while still allowing me to walk around.First off the product title says "Womens" I do not understand what that means as a 50 inch diameter umbrella is more than large enough for a full grown man. Between the size and the slits that allow the wind to pass through it is pretty sturdy even in strong winds. The main shaft of the umbrella looks to be made out of carbon fiber type material which is light and really strong. However the little arms that hold open the umbrella part are made out of a flexible plastic. I read a few reviews complaining about that plastic but so far in 20 mile an hour winds this thing has not broken. The item also does not list UV blocking anywhere however this umbrella is definitely made for the sun. The silver metalic outside coating reflects most of the heat away. Yes you can see some light coming through the black inside of the umbrella but it's just enough light to know you are standing in the sun not actual light that bothers or makes you tan.All in all so far it is a great way to block out the sun.

Great buy!
I bought this to use as a sun umbrella even though it doesn't specifically say it's uv blocking. I can tell you that it saved my legs from sunburn on a float trip & you can feel the temperature change when you open this baby up! I'm currently sitting under it while fishing in the rain & it's keeping me dry as well (big surprise right lol). As for those concerned about it being made of plastic, let me reassure you, the handle is sturdy fiberglass so I'm not worried about that & this makes it nice & light weight. I held it most of the day when I was camping & was never tired from it. It got caught in a high wind & turned inside out but because of the plastic spines/braces/skeleton whatever you want to call it, it flipped right back, good as new. I love the strap on the carrying case because it's easy to take along just in case. If I ever need to buy a new one, most likely because someone would steal this one, I'll definitely purchase again!

So far so good
I bought this umbrella because I was tired of buying the $5 umbrellas at CVS only for them to die on me 20 steps later in a rain storm. So far this one has done a great job it has done well through massive wind tunnels and storms. I was very surprised at how light it was!I was a bit hesitant to buy a big umbrella mainly because I am very short and carrying a large umbrella around, like this one, I thought was going to be more of a burden and an annoyance. But it's amazing! Its very light and it comes with a cover that has a strap for your shoulder so you just sling it over! I highly recommend it! One thing the silver color is a slightly darker shade of silver than it shows in the picture, but it works, and the light blue is exactly as it is on the picture.

it seems pretty light. I like the reflective coating for the ...
It's just over 32 1/2 inches long when closed up. I plan on taking it with me on a hike, so it may be a bit large to attach to a pack but I'm going to anyway. I haven't a way to weigh it, however, if it helps, it seems pretty light. I like the reflective coating for the intense sun and the 50" shadow it casts. I also like that it will shelter me and my pack from the rain. The grip is very comfortable to hold and the overall construction seems very sturdy. So far, when I have opened it indoors, it has not brought any bad luck. ;)

I returned it because it was broken but the description wasn't detailed enough.
I liked the idea of the blue underneath. It's like having your own blue sky on a rainy day. The handle is very comfortable. It's lightweight and a nice size, too. It covered me and all the bags I have to haul into work. Here's what I didn't like, there were two Velcro straps to secure it when closed. Maybe I'm just lazy but it annoyed me. The quality of construction wasn't what I thought it would be. Some pieces in the mechanics were plastic and were broken when I got it. The broken pieces did not effect its operation but I was worried it would not stand up to wind. I returned it because it was broken. I probably would have kept it otherwise. I ordered the GustBuster with the wooden hook handle. It's not here yet but I'm hoping the quality is a little better since it is almost twice the price of this one.

Almost Perfect
I bought this to block the sun when I play golf. I play lots of golf and have very fair skin. I've used it a couple of times now and it blocks the sun really well. Agree with the commenter that said "no where in the description does it actually say it blocks the sun." It's very light and easy to use the round without tiring my arm and affecting my golf fame. Although it seems big, it doesn't provide cover for my legs (I'm 5'1") so I still use lots of sunscreen there. Highly recommend despite the small shortcomings.

Nice umbrella
So far more durable than the old gustbuster one I had. Hard to beat, great value and living in Seattle I use it all the time. They say only tourists use umbrellas in Seattle. Nonsense, the hipsters can stick to their flannel hoodies but I'm happy using an umbrella in Seattle. The only thing I wish it had was a J hook on the bottom or a loop-strap so I could carry it on my wrist when not in use. My old umbrella catch would slip so it would keep coming open at random. So far this one has held up well, it only opens when I push the button. Let's hope it keeps working that way over the long run.
