Excellent value for the price and longevity.
I have this $150 B&D Hedger and a $700 Makita Hedger. Both do the job great, but the Makita has an extension that allows me to cut the tops of my 10 foot Arborvitae, it also weights 4 times more than the B&D and leaves me exhausted after using it. Both have lithium batteries with the same shelf life.I really appreciate the lightweight, the decent power and the 24" length of the B&D and at a price that allows me to buy a new when it cuts poorly. I just replaced my last one that was 10 year old. It's such a pleasure to have the B&D power and lightweight to easy accomplish my hedging chores.

it's a beast but it has a weakness
I've ordered 5 of these over the past 10 years. For standard clipping of soft bushes, preening or shaping of bushes and soft hedges , this should last a long time. Battery is awesome, fast charge and zero complaints. Now, it says it can cut 5/8 branches ...don't do it...you can see in my photos the motor gear of this machine...it is the one issue I have with this hedger and there is no way to repair it. Once that fine rod , that is part of the motor and moves your blades via a cog gear, well once it breaks that's the end of the hedger. Your motor will last, your blades will last, battery too but that little part inside is the kryptonite. I have a thorny hedge that runs the full length of the property, about 10,000 meters...it gets cut 2 times a year, top and two sides. A lot of work but this machine doesn't miss a beat. I cut the thicker branches with a machete. The weight of the machine allows me to work with ease. Since I have 2 batteries, while one is charging I use the other so I can keep going all day and so can this beast of a machine. Just be gentle with it and don't throw I around.I just wish black amd decker would look into altering that motor gear.

Works for 2-3 years
I recommend to buy this item with a 2-3 year guarantee. I used my first one for 2 years without guarantee. The next one also made it 2 years, but I had a guarantee which helped me to cover the cost of the third one I'm using now, also with guarantee. The blade which is coming with this item is getting dull with time, depending on the use you give it, it will last between 1-3 years. All in all a very good tool, cuts bushes with finger thick branches very easy. The low weight helps to keep up working for a whole hour until the battery dies. Y use 2 batteries, while I work with one, the other is charging. If you clean it with W40 after every use it will last longer.

works very well, a bit loud
A cordless hedge-trimmer. It made short work of sculpting both delicate stems and heavy woody growth, as well as beating back wild brambles with ease. It's simple to use, no instructions required. On the negative, it's rather louder than I expected, and it's fairly heavy at 7lbs (before the battery!). The weight is especially noticeable if held at/above your shoulder level. But the loud and heavy aren't an issue for long, since cutting with this tool goes much, much faster than when using pruning shears.I picked this model over the several other B+D hedge trimmers based on it being 2" longer than the 20V models (24" vs 22"), able to handle double the thickness of branch (3/4"), and because its batteries are interchangeable with my new 40V B+D mower. You should select the model that matches other B+D equipment you own or plan to buy, which gives you either a spare battery or lets you buy a "bare" model like I did (much cheaper without the battery).Like other battery-powered gear, the positives are instant start, no engine maintenance, no stocking fuel/oil, and most importantly no local emissions. Utility emissions are much easier to mitigate, and much more likely to transition to clean energy (and less likely to have the dangerous fine particulates emitted by small gas engines).Nag mode: always wear safety glasses when using cutting tools.Pruning has always been a chore for me-- but now I'm almost embarrassingly excited about using this thing to slice through the vines and bushes like a knife through butter. Recommended.

Great Hedge Trimmer
I bought this one to replace my old one from 2017. I accidentally hit a metal water nozzle while trimming english ivy. Had I not hit the nozzle, my old trimmer would still be working. I am confident the new one will also last a long time and now my new blades are sharper! Black and Decker makes a great hedge trimmer and that is why I bought another one. By the way, there batteries are also very good and last a long time!

Makes yard work MUCH easier. It will make you smile
I love this trimmer but maybe I use it too aggressively. You do need to make sure you don't over load it and you will be rewarded with a long life and a very nicely trimmed up yard. It really takes little effort to trim up bushes and other yard growth. But if you over load it, it will not be with you long. I bought this last one since I love the machine and felt I could control myself and use the battery that was still in very good shape. This is the without battery model and is still working very well.
