Takes a lot of practice!
As my title says, learning to use this is relatively simple, but the actual execution takes a lot of practice. I went through a lot of those aluminum fittings before I really "got it".This is my method:Strip wire to 5-8mmTwist wire wellCut exposed, stripped and twisted wire to a freakishly small length - I think 1-2(max) mm. For me, it was like a couple of hairs over a nub (I know that's not real thing, but that's what I think when I do these) Anyway...Take the strip of connectors - I do not remove them from the strip as I find leaving them on the strip gives you something to use to move the connector while in the crimper for adjustment. Just make sure when it's inserted to have that retaining clip clear the jaws - this is crucial. Also, I fold the wings in a bit (an extremely small amount). If you squeeze them together too much, you won't be able to push your wire in. This whole process is a lot of trial and error.Ok, so now you're cable and crimper are ready, push your tiny exposed cable into the fitting that's in the crimper. And this too is another part of that trial and error. Push too much and you won't be crimping that freakishly small exposed wire area, and not pushing enough, crimps the exposed wire, but those wings will not be grabbing the cable's sheathing, thus resulting in a poor connection.Trial and error people, trial and error. Also, as a small note - for those reviewers that say it's not the right size, they're simply not pushing the cable into the fitting enough - with some reviews, it's clearly evident in their images as their wings are not fully folded - the fitting was clearly not inserted correctly (or not inserted enough). The tool works well. It is sturdy and appears to be well made. The handles feel nice in your hand and you can adjust the ratchet force. This is a tool I've used a few times now, and will likely last for the rest of my life.Good luck with your project. I would recommend this tool, yes.

works great, much better than non ratcheting from local stores!
I had the greenworks? non ratcheting crimper from a local store and the connectors were falling off the wires. This tool works great. It would be nice if they clearly labeled which was for jst vs dupont. Also pay attention to which side you put the crimp part that goes around the insulation. One side of each "size" is slightly bigger. I found that starting the connectors on by hand slightly helped because the ears were too wide for the tool. The ears stick up into the tool and id start the ratcheting before pushing in the wire. I dont know if its the best way but I pushed the wire til it bottomed out then cranked down the ratchet crimp. Just watch that your actual connector end is hanging out and doesnt get pinched. To do a lot of these would be somewhat tedious but at least with this tool I didnt have to redo any connections.

Awesome tool and easy to use.
I have never used one of these before and it only took me three tries to work it out. That says a lot. I suggest that if you are new to this sort of connector you practice on scrap first.

Very well Built and very professional results
I've usually did all my Dupont crimps with needle nose plyers. Have started using crimpers and so much faster and results look more professional i will never use plyers again.

Firm Dupont Connections
I used this generic crimping tool in conjunction with an assortment of Dupont crimps. As expected, the ratching crimper does a great job of creating secure connections, both male and female. If we were to be incredibly critical, you would note that the tabs on the Dupont connector do not "perfectly" wrap the cable as they would with an official Dupont tool; but let's be honest, this is a lot cheaper and it's not being used on a production assembly line. For the purposes of using a circuit using a breadboard, this is more than sufficient.I'd recommend this product to others.

Destroyed butt connectors
I tried these and they crimp down to nothing, thereby destroying the butt connector. (see photo).I might as well use vice grips if I'm just going to flatten the connector and tear up the heat shrink.

Easy to make JST connectors
This is very easy to use, so easy I haven't screwed up a connecter yet. I used this to shorten the battery lead on a small 2 cell lipo battery. The tool works perfect.

Once you figure out how to use, without instructions, it works great.
Works really well but needs to come with some written directions and images.
