Great visual display
My mom would ask what day it was several times a day due to her dementia. I ordered this calendar clock for her. My mom absolutely loved it! She would say almost every day I just love my clock. It tells me what month it is and what day it is. It even tells me if it’s morning, afternoon or evening. I was so pleased that it helped her.

This Is A Plug-in, Not Battery Powered (I missed that in the description)
Pretty satisfactory as to the display. Have not set any timings, nor used the SD card option. I read the description too fast and saw the lithium ion battery mentioned, and didn't realize it needed to be plugged in and that the battery was only backup.I have to mount it on the wall, and plugging the wire in from the side, drags the light weight clock crooked, so that it has to be fastened to the wall or the cord has to be taped to take the weight off the clock so it will be straight. It would be fine if you just wanted it on a table. The only other thing that bothered me a bit is that, when setting the date, time and other options, it flips back to the display mode a little too fast. When trying to set the brightness settings, I had to start over several times as the setting mode timed out too quickly. Once set, it's nice and bright. We'll see how it is at night. Not too bright, I hope. All in all, I'm satisfied, but not thrilled.

This is not the clock you are looking for.
Three big drawbacks (which are advertised but not clearly explained) are reasons I should have returned this clock (but I missed the return window because ADHD).This would work best if dementia person lives with their adult children and this clock is used to answer the question 'what time is it' and it's high contrast and large print. That's it.I so very much wanted this to work. In my eagerness to solve timekeeping problems, I made poor assumptions that the critical design issues below would not exist. Especially the plethora of identical looking clocks on Amazon all exploit the 'dementia' and 'adhd' branding.1. Stop the ringing Alarm!: There is no efficient way to turn off the alarm when it rings. No button on the front, no simple one touch somewhere on the sides of frame, not even a 'smash any button' feature to turn off the cacophony. No Mute button either to silence an upcoming alarm and you don't want it to ring. You have to physically handle the clock. Pick it up or take off the wall, turn it over, and make sure you select the exact correct button among the 7 identical white buttons. If you try to do it in a rush (to turn off the godawful klaxon default alarm), be careful because OOPSIE you hit the power button and you turned it off. Orrr, you opened the Menu and then hit a Navigation button in the Settings menu. If you thought you could hang this across the room out of reach and have it maybe chime 5 times for the medication reminders -- you're out of luck.2. Alarm sound "options" ! ; the ONLY way you get an option on the sound is if you have sound files on an SD card and have it always docked in the back of the clock. It only comes with the default Klaxon. that's it, no other option. So the SD card isn't just a nice upgrade in case you want a woodpecker or Elmer Fudd sound for alarms-- it's a requirement to have even a mild chime. The description is misleading because the only 'option' you have for alarm is if you want the am/afternoon/pm medication reminder, and custom TIMES set for the alarm. Not the ring sound.3. It is now dead to me; - This ONLY works if connected via DC power; no battery option. If, while in haste of shutting off the alarm, you grab the clock and accidentally disengage the DC plug (easily happens, just like phone chargers falling out), the unit turns off. No battery reserve delay, no recharge - just immediate blank.Since I've missed the return window, this will land in a tote or box until yardsale season when I will donate it to my church.

Esy for the visually impaired to read
My Mother-in-law is just shy of 101 years old. She is very healthy, but suffers from macular degeneration. This has been a wonderful treat for her. She sits in her recliner to watch TV and I hung the clock next to it and she can see the day of the week, time of day and actual date. This is GREAT!!

Easy to understand and read
If you have a love one who is struggling with day and night or reading a traditional clock this is perfect. Large readable face that has all the information to understand. I feel the best part is the words morning, afternoon, etc. My mother has full dementia. No understanding of am or pm. This clock gave her time understanding
