The league for its own
This Philips M8905/10 is a brilliant micro system in this price category. For £229 is the same price as the no-name brands with the similar parameters. Obviously, there are much better Wi-Fi micro systems on the market. But, their prices are £490 and up, so it's quite unfair to compare twice cheaper micro system to the significantly higher price range. The sound is good enough for the most people, it can be improved by better speaker cables, if you are willing to spend more money. 2× 50W is enough for the standard-sized room. I'm listening to Classical music, Rock, Pop, Metal, Jazz, Blues and Opera. For the hard-core music fans is better to go higher, or to buy an excellent speaker cables. For me it's perfectly acceptable for this price. It would be better, if they would make a better equaliser, or, if there would be a chance to make the custom one. The only negative things are speaker connectors, because in this price category is better to make a sprung speakers, but it's not a big tragedy. Display is rather smaller than it should have been, but with a good visibility. The second (and the last) negative thing is the audio in on the front. I'm using a turntable connected to this system and it doesn't look esthetically great, but I can live with it. It's not a specific PHONO, so bear in mind, if you are thinking of a turntable. The sensitivity of DAB+ is great, but the FM is significantly worse. Just almost nobody is listening to the ancient FM anymore, so it's not a problem at all. Spotify Connect is working well, the same CD player, and Bluetooth. Also no problems with the turntable connected through the front AUX IN. The remote control is intuitive to use, and it's working from the various angles and directions. If you are an audiophile, is not for you. If you can spend twice more money for the higher level, just do it. If you want to buy a decent, cheap micro system by a well-known brand, look no further. This is the perfect balance between the features and money. I'm happy with this system.

Two things let it down.
Great stereo with great sound for our living room, easy enough to set up & looks stylish. It would be better if one could adjust the Bass & Treble manually . The display is very small, I used to be able to read what songs were playing etc from the other side of the room on my old stereo.

Good hifi but very difficult to connect speaker wires.
The hifi is a very good hifi- I am very pleased with it. However there is one big problem- the speaker wires are extremely difficult to connect to the main unit and the speakers at the connector terminals. Other buyers mentioned this problem in their reviews.

Amazing system
This system has an amazing amount of options. Every part of it seems to work well; for instance Internet radio is flawless in changing to, for example, a New York radio station. Spotify works well and even shows you the picture of the track you’re playing. Even the speakers, for the price, are heavy and are good quality It’s only flaw is it’s speaker terminals are of poor quality.

Bought two and both faulty
This system has a lot going for it at the price - DAB, internet radio, podcasts, FM, CD audio in and more. It's easy to set up and easy to use, and it produces a very warm and clear sound. It's a compact and capable system that looks fine. Alas, I had two bad experiences with this system. I bought one of these, and out of the box it refused to play any CDs. That went back for a refund. When the price dropped i bought another, and that one randomly refused to produce any sound from the speakers. Sound via headphones worked okay. Philips support was pretty good, and said okay to a return and refund. Am disappointed with it. It has a great feature set, sounds great, and it doesn't look like aTransformers movie prop. Too bad that both of the systems I bought it simply didn't work.

The size was perfect for our situation as it was replacing a ten year old Sony micro system. Sound quality is good but way too much bass if you set the equaliser on anything other than "balanced". Now for the bad: 1. The USB playback ALWAYS starts at the first track & does NOT remember the last track position like our old Sony. 2. It can only play a FAT32 USB which is a really old format. It's now NTFS or EXFAT32. 3. If "PAUSE" is pressed it turns off after ten minutes! 4. If streaming via Bluetooth the unit switches off EVERY ten minutes & has to be constantly switched back on - totally unusable. My summing up, I expected FAR better, but our ten year old Sony was in fact way better. If you just want a radio (FM or DAB) it's okay & who these days uses CDs? For playing from a USB device it really isn't suitable if you have large play lists sadly.
