Well made but inaccurate
I've had 4 pedometers over the past year or so and this one is by far the least accurate of all. I still have 3 of them so I wore those 3 at the same time for several days in a row and compared results at the end of each day. First of all, the distance walked was so off it was a joke. I walk 2 miles on the treadmill each morning and at the end of the day I was barely breaking the 2 mile mark, which is impossible. I don't really care about the calorie meter so I have no idea how accurate or inaccurate that is. The step count on this pedometer is fine if ALL you ever do is walk at a very constant pace. But since most people don't walk like that through the course of their day it doesn't count the steps properly. There were some days where I had over 1,000 steps more on this pedometer than on the others, and some days where it undercounted steps by quite a bit too. Not by 100 or even 200 steps because I could live with that, but I means close to 1,000.I had the displeasure of being in contact with the owner of the company, Gary. When I was deciding which model of this brand to choose I do admit I had a few questions to help me make the right choice for my needs. So yes, there were probably about 4 emails that went back and forth. That's because it was like pulling teeth to get information. Believe me if there was someone else to contact I would've but he seems to be the only employee. He used as few words as possible to respond which of course only led to me having to send another email. Finally when I settled on this model I saw that the order form on his website asks for a promo code so I asked if he could provide me with one. He told me that's for when people are ordering through their company so no, he did not have a promo code. That's fine. I looked on Amazon and saw that it was slightly cheaper plus had free shipping so I went ahead and ordered from Amazon. A few days later Gary emailed me asking why he hasn't seen my order come in yet, which I thought was rather rude and inappropriate but I did tell him that I placed my order through Amazon at a cheaper price and for free shipping. He then said to me, and I quote, "For all the questions you asked me you could've at least ordered from me. All you had to do was ask for a promo code."Even if I loved this item, which I don't, I still couldn't give it a recommendation for the horrible customer service that the owner of the company provides. Having said all this, I will say that the pedometer is made very well, it seems very sturdy and it's impossible to accidentally reset it with the latch closed. The size is good and the display is easy to read. Oh but the leash does not stay on so it's worthless.

BEST Pedometer I've ever owned
I started wearing a pedometer several years ago. I bought a simple pedometer to get me started and it worked well, but over time I became concerned it really wasn't all that accurate. Plush, since I wore the pedometer all day long, felt that it was measuring movement at times versus steps taken.I started researching pedometers for a better device that wasn't loaded with features I really didn't want or need.I found the Yamax Yamasa Power Walker LITE PZ271 Accelerometer Pedometer and wear it daily since it arrived. I LOVE IT.I love the fact that the buttons are kept hidden behind a hard cover, so that I can't accidently re-set the counter by accident (something that did happen with my other pedometers). I love the fact that it doesn't measure movement, but only steps when it senses you've taken at least five in a row. I love the fact that every night it re-sets itself to zero steps, so every morning I simply put it on and I'm starting from zero. (My other pedometers I had to remember to re-set the counter each day). The size is also perfect.I ordered a safety strap that clips on to another area of my pants so that it won't become unclipped and I might lose it. Though I will say that hasn't happened, when you spend this much of a pedometer, you really would hate to lose it by having it get unclipped. The accelerometer is actually a more advanced way to measure step count than the basic pedometer. The device is also easy to set-up for your stride length. It allows you to digitally enter the exact stride you take in your normal walking style. In the end, what a pedometer does for you is give you an daily nudge as to your activity level. There's nothing magical about 10,000 steps a day, but if you're only getting in around 2,000 steps - you setting yourself up for health issues over time.My pedometer is like my personal fitness coach. It tells me that I'm not finished with the day, until I get in my daily dose of phsyical activity. The best activity is walking (3.5 mph). When you consider the price of a gym membership, the most affordable thing you can do is get a great pair of walking shoes, blister preventing socks and a pedometer. Then, just get out daily and walk.

accurate and good price.
My wife uses this and has been happy with it. Says it is sensitive to position but makes up for that with excellent accuracy. I will replace my current pedometer with this when the time comes.

Daily Walker
I did some background research on the various pedometers out there and decided this model provided the features I preferred. It is small, accurate and has a very easy to read display. It was also very easy to set up and the fact that it is a closed case when being used is a great feature since none of the buttons can be activated accidentally. The belt clip is strong and really keeps it in place nicely, although I also purchased a pedometer leash to ensure it would not get lost.I would have preferred the "stride length" input to be in total inches instead of feet and incremental quarters of a foot, but that is just my preference and does not seem to affect the accuracy of the pedometer to a noticeable degree.Overall, this was a great purchase for me and it does all it was advertised to do. I would definitely recommend this pedometer to all.

learning to use it
I've been wearing it every day but I've only taken a little time to read the instructions. I have to do more to set it for me, but I'm pleased with it's count.

Great pedometer, overall
Sometimes a bit too sensitive, recording too many steps. However, overall an excellent pedometer. I would purchase it again and recommend to friends.
