Q: How can I attach the braid with out the extension?

The braid is attached to an adjustable elastic headband. I suppose you could cut off the elastic portion, as each side of the braid fits into a plastic end to keep the braid from unraveling. It's a great braid and I love mine and never fail to get loads of compliments when I wear it!

Q: My hair is so dark brown it's almost black. Which color would match?

The best way to get a good match is to look at all of the color options and zoom in on the braid (with your smartphone for most accurate match) and compare it with your hair color. I did that and found an almost perfect match.
