Cauldron Authentic Tofu, 396g

This tofu brand is great and with the price and availability i just keep coming back for more.You need to keep this refrigerated and it has a much shorter shelf life than the silken tofu that can be kept in the cupboard for months, This is a much firmer tofu than silken and is perfect for scrambled tofu and for making tofu nuggets, this can be frozen to store for longer but you need to drain the water out the packet and give the tofu a little squeeze just to release some of the water before covering and freezing.As a tip if you drain, squeeze, then freeze tofu twice then it changes its texture to be a little more like meat which is great for making nuggets.

As far as ready made tofu goes, this is a fresh fridge brand, as opposed to long life, and has a really good flavour. But I find the quality in the packets can be a bit inconsistent. There's not always a nice neat block; I've had quite a few of these over time that have been an odd shape and also have a texture that changes from being a firm tofu at one end of the block to almost silken and crumbling away at the other. Trying to gently squeeze out the excess liquid from a soft block that breaks up is really difficult, and when it's that soft it doesn't cut into cubes or fry quite so well either. Nevertheless, it's overall a good brand and I couldn't be without my tofu so I keep on buying it at what I think is a really good price from Morrisons!

This is easy to store, easy to use and - well, tofu is probably the blandest food you're ever likely to eat, but it picks up the flavours of a dish beautifully. A good-sized pack as well.

I use in Thai, Chinese or any vegan protien rich meal

It is tofu, end of. I buy it, it's always the last thing left in the fridge and it is ok when cooked.
