I bought two pairs of these curtains for my bedroom which has ceiling to floor, wall to wall windows. They were supposed to be a temporary cost-effective solution when I moved into my current home as I did not at that stage have any curtains in the room. Despite being advised against buying light coloured curtains as they would not darken the room sufficiently, I went ahead and bought these curtains. Once up, they looked lovely and I was pleased with the purchase.I have had the following two issues with these curtains over a period of one year. First, in the summer, when the days are long, the curtains did not sufficiently darken the room. Being a light sleeper, I would wake up at the crack of dawn not out of choice but because I was unable to sleep in daylight. The second issue was that during the hot summer months, the curtains when drawn during the daytime did not prevent the room from heating up.Since I liked what the curtains looked like, rather than replacing them as I had initially intended, I decided to add blackout curtains underneath them. I had to replace the curtain rail brackets as the the curtains and the black out curtains together were quite heavy. I am extremely pleased with the result. I now have curtains that I like, my bedroom remains cool in the summer and I can have a good night's rest without waking up at daybreak.
