Book is well worth the wait!
What a thick book full of colorful images. It has 333 pages full of technic build ideas. We bought a used book and the condition is like new. Great book for serious lego builders. My son loves it!

The Best Book Around for AFOL Technic Builders
I've ordered tons of stuff from Amazon, and this is my first real review of a product, simply because this book deserves one.If you are an AFOL, and you tend to be more towards the functioning/mechanical aspect of Lego models, while trying to keep the asthetics of a fine looking piece of equipment, this should be the first book you purchase. The book takes multiple approaches to describing how things work, why they work, and alternate constructs to achieve the same function.Want to figure out how to build independant suspensions for your models? There's a couple in here. What about indepedant steering/drive wheels? Got those, too. How about some transmissions, Power Functions, tracked, all wheel drive, pneumatics, actuators, levers, linkages, differentials, studless VS studful, SNOT and all other sorts of things that you always wanted to know about Lego building, but could never really find what you were looking for?Yeah, it's all in here. From the moment I opened the package to now, I'm engorged in this book. Hell, I even opened it a few times while writing this review. This will be indespensible to myself, and even my children. I've been playing Lego's with my children since they were 3-4 years old, and they've always wanted to play with MOC's, and they've started taking an interest in how gears and such work, so with this book, maybe they'll become mechanical engineers. This book is that knowledgable. Sariel has been one of the top Lego creators for some time now, and this book shows you just a glimpse of his knowledge. All in all, this book is work the money. It's fairly hefty, bigger than I imagined it would be, and am not dissapointed. If you had a choice between buying a $20 set and this book, buy this book.

Non-nerds beware
This book isn’t for someone that doesn’t do math well. It goes into some physics and mechanical design. The “Book for the Recently Deceased” (Bettlejuice reference) will probably be easier to read than understanding the formulas to some. Luckily I didn’t have much of a social life in college and majored in nerd. I really love this book but haven’t had time to utilize it the way I want to. I’m having to purchase some pieces from Bricklink.com and build an arsenal of gears and axles to experiment with the things mentions in this book. I bought this book earlier than I needed too though. I plan on using this book with my kids when they get into Math and physics in HS and college. Legos are the reason that I became a nerd and encourage every child to build the biggest collection they can and play with them forever. The book is very colorful and from what little bit I have been able to work with it seems very informative. There are a ton of pictures in it too. This will help kids or anyone learning about this physics to visualize the outcome and the Lego parts. Just click on the “Look Inside” and see for yourself.

Thorough walk through of Technic principles
If you want to build a Technic crane (for example), what parts do you use? How do they work? This book will thoroughly answer those questions, but it is wordy!!Think of this book as a "college course book" -- lots of detailed explanation (with good supporting photos). It is NOT something you'll just flip through to glean ideas & get basic concepts (like the Lego Technic Idea books or the Lego Education kits). The author starts you off with basic engineering concepts (such as torque & power) and Lego terminology / part names. Then, the book breaks down Technic building into sections: studless vs. studfull building, gears, axles, motors, etc. When you're done with this book, you should have a very good understanding of Technic building.I give it (4) stars for the detailed explanation -- though, I have not verified the content for accuracy/correctness.What I'd love to see: at the end of each chapter, a simple model you could build to demonstrate the basic principles.Reader should be an older teen & up (15+).If you are a parent looking to help your child understand engineering principles using Legos, I'd go for the Lego Education books (those are great!).

Amazing Examples and Descriptions of Mechanics and of Lego Pieces That Anyone Can Learn and Build
The reader will gain advanced knowledge of Lego and Mechanics. Pawel's knowledge of Technic Lego parts and their uses is expert level. His Lego designs (MOCs) are as impressive as any I've seen. However, his knowledge of mechanics is questionable at times. Nevertheless, this is the best twenty-one dollars you can spend to help anyone, young or old, learn and build mechanical assemblies. He provides numerous examples of mechanical systems. He leads the reader, beginning with basic levels of understanding to advanced levels, concerning Lego "units", building strategies, gear systems, pulleys, linkages, steering systems, transmissions, and more. The reader will come away with both knowledge and proper vocabulary for both Lego bricks and Mechanical sub-assemblies. The book is well illustrated and printed using top quality paper and inks. I've deducted one star for information that is simply wrong, such as the differential pulley system.

Highly educational for budding engineers!
If you are like me and grew up with Legos (especially the Technic Legos) or if you are interested in engineering, this is a great book to get you started. It starts with the basics and applies engineering theory to the practice of building devices that move or light up the table top. This is a great book for those that want to review structural engineering concepts. It's also a great book to share with your kids and build simple to complex machines for any function.Great book. I recommend it for all.

An essential guide to helping your models move
This book provides various builds to help you with your Technic models, such as how to use multiple motors. Examples of gear box design, transferring drive to wheels with suspension, how to correctly mount shafts and gears. These designs provide the model builder an insight into the transferring of real life mechanisms into Technic assemblies and whilst can be copied, you can soon adapt them to suit your model.A very useful book that provides both the designs, the bricks / gears, to use and the theory behind them.

Essential reading
I am an adult re-discovering the fun of Lego. As my 8 year old son is growing up and playing with Lego it has taken me back to my youth. I ended my Lego days as a teenager with the Technic range of Lego. Back then, Technic Lego was still quite simple (by comparison to todays standards). I have viewed some creations online and soon realised that modern Technic is enjoyed by adults and is far more sophisticated than it ever was. Just type 'Lego engine' into Youtube and you will soon see what I mean. I purchased a Lego excavator (8043) for myself and was blown away by the clutches, gearing and power transmission systems. However, following instructions to build a prescribed model is not the same as understanding how it all works. This book fills that gap and beyond. Whilst it does not explain individual models it does provide advanced building and engineering principles in an easy to understand way. I am sure a competent youngster would be able to make good use of the book but for enquiring adults, I would say the book is invaluable and certainly worth the cover price and some. New or old to Technic Lego, I would say this book deserves a place on your bookshelf.
