I loved Wreckless Eric WAY BACK in the late 1970s when he first made his Stiff Records debut. Nobody like him then, and on hearing this recent effort (sorry Eric, I'm just now getting caught up with your newer albums!) there is still nobody else like him making music. This guy is a jewel! A legend! Worship him and don't be embarrassed by that fact.So yeah, I'm loving this album, released in 2015, and I just ordered his newest one. That distinctive voice is still intact, and the songs don't disappoint either; lyrically sharp with equally cutting melodies. He hasn't lost a thing over the years at all. Man, this is such a joy to listen to. Thank you Wreckless Eric, and keep on keeping on!

11th album from this strange Englishman who plays songs that mix hook-filled melodies with a fun, experimental sense of folk & twee pop. Bits of tinny feedback and dime store keyboards mix it up jovially with cello, banjo, scratchy guitar chords and manipulated background vocals. Former member of Captains Of Industry, The Len Bright Combo. Reminiscent of artists like Ian Dury, Jonathan Richman, Syd Barrett, Robyn Hitchcock, Patrick Fitzgerald, Dan Treacy (Television Personalities), Ergo Phizmiz, Billy Childish. “amERICa” is an album that hooks you in with its strange storytelling lyrics and a very peculiarly British take on psychedelic pop songwriting.

It's just great stuff. It's an amazing reflection of a man born in the mid fifties. (I can speak to some authority on the subject, because I was too!) If you are an old Eric fan, you'll love it. If you are a new Eric fan, you'll love it. It's a win-win musical situation.

First new album in around a decade and it's no disappointment. Incredibly fun listen and holds up to his past releases.
