Whole House Fan Shutter - 30" - Interior Use - White

The old unit I replaced had a plastic frame and was poorly constructed, it rattled right out of the box. This unit though has an aluminum frame, and was tightly put together. I sprayed the back of each louver with Rubberized Undercoating to act as a sound dampener, and it worked great! (CRC 05347 Rubberized Spray Undercoating )

This shutter works much better than the original fan shutter. It not as noisy as the original shutter, but it is not as quiet as the shutter I had in a previous home 30 years ago. It would be much quieter if they would use heavier gauge metal and apply sound proofing material to the shutter blades. I would give it 3.5 stars... it replaced a 1.5 stars shutter.

We had an 18 year old attic fan that the shutter frame had cracked. So noisy. We looked and looked to find something close on size and this fit perfectly! So much quieter than our old one and installed in about five minutes which is the time it took to drill a couple of new holes in to the old hole frame.

It was fine but unfortunately it was a little bit smaller than the opening used by the old louver. Same "size", different mounting dimension.And with all the other construction going on in the house, the box it came in was thrown away. So now I can't even return it.My stupidity. Advice- measure very carefully, I did a quick measure while the old louver was still in place - bad idea.

Had an attic fan from Home Depot. It said it was quiet. It was not. The shutters rattled real bad. Saw this one and thought we would give it a try. Ends up it is the same noiseyHad shutter that came with the Home Depot fan. Sent it back. Store charged me back restock of 15 percent and worse yet they advertised "free shipping" and then charged that back to me as well.. I complained to no avail. Bottom line it is a very noisey product and rattles Bradley. Store it came from is not good merchant

This is a nice shutter. It is quiet and looks nice. The cut-out size is (of course) different from the total size of the cover so make sure you measure that. You should also frame out the area so you can screw the cover into wood. I dont trust drywall anchors for that. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, this is a nice product and has worked very well for me.

Unfortunately, I have returned the Fan Shutter. Not because I did not like the shutter, but because it required complicated carpenter work as the width was too narrow and the length was too long which would have required ceiling joist work. I was impressed with the appearance and structurally rigidity. Please do not take this review as negative. It was not your fault that the older house construction was fitted with a custom 30" fan shutter which was undersized and we were not of aware of it until we attempted to install the shutter.
