Wilton Sesame Street Elmo Shaped Aluminum Cake Pan

Holy crap the instructions were pretty easy if you follow them with the corresponding wilton stuff. I tried making my own frosting and I never got the red to be red enough. Pre-made wilton red decorating frostings with the 2 tips were all i needed (amazon's wilton store has them - look for Item# 704-4299). I THINK i used 2 reds, 1 black, 1 orange, 1 white and had a lot leftover of the latter 3. Buy 3 reds just in case maybe. I used 1 pillsbury funfetti cake mix box and greased/floured the pan before baking. I let it cool on a wire rack over night and frosted it 2 hours before the party. i got a lot of compliments on this bad boy!! In the picture i freehanded a mini "smash" elmo cake with the leftover cake that you cut off from the big elmo to make it level (and again i had so much frosting leftover..). Worth it!

This pan helps give you the perfect foundation for an adorable Elmo cake. It cooked uniformly and I had no issues with sticking. The outlines of the face are on the cake after it's baked which helps with decorating. I used fondant for the mouth, nose and inner eyes, royal icing to coat the eyes and then just piped on the red fur. My 2 yr old loved it and I saved a bunch of money on a fancy, professionally decorated cake. No real skill necessary to make this cake look cute. Everyone will now get an Elmo cake for all of their birthdays.

The pan is very lightweight but the cake turned out perfectly cooked (box cake about 30 minutes in my oven). You have to be very sure to cover the entire pan with shortening and flour to release the cake properly. The extra time taken to do this will be very worth it. My cake released entirely from the pan.If you decide to use the icing recipe on the label please note there is an error (doublecheck recipe on the Wilton site). It calls for 1/2 cup butter but then in parentheses says that is 2 cubes. Not so. One cube of butter (4 to a pound) is 1/2 cup. One recipe made enough frosting for the entire cake with a little left over. The proportions listed for the different colors are pretty good with the exception of the white. No way it would take 3/4 cup.

Well coated with an olive oil spray and this cake slid right out fully intact. I used white fondant for the eyes, orange fondant for the nose, and red icing with a star tip for the fur. I got black decorating icing for the mouth and eyes and it was really runny but I managed to make it work. I’d recommend drawing the black for the eyes on fondant circles so the run off can be trimmed after it starts to harden and BEFORE placing them on the white of the eyes.

I followed the other reviewers' advice and made sure I floured the pan really well before pouring in the cake batter. Once it was done cooking, it slid right out of the pan. I used black decorating frosting and then added food coloring to homemade buttercream icing for the nose and face. Even though my daughter screamed and cried at the sight of it, it was still a hit at her birthday party! Can't wait to use this again next year!

Works well as long as you grease and flour the pan liberally!

Love it. Made an absolutely beautiful cake. I wish we could RENT these only because storage is limited and I'm sure my son will want Mickey or something else next year, but the pan itself is good quality for a cake pan and can be reused. It was well made, balanced, it was buttered and floured and the surfaces weren't hard to reach. The cake came out of the pan with no issues. For the price, I wish they included a grass tip or some food coloring or SOMETHING though!!!!! The cake pan leaves indentations to follow for icing (though I did NOT ice it myself) and it makes enough to serve 15-20 (at least smaller ones).

Was very impressed with the quality of this tin. After baking the cake it produced a good representation of the mould of the character. Wilton are consistently high quality and provide more variety than other sellers. Considering this came from America it arrived remarkably quickly and was reasonably priced. Would order from this company again.

Fairly quick delivery, well within the time frame given. Good price and it's a fab cake tin. My daughters birthday cake turned out brilliantly.
